CANbus installed and I'm a happy camper. Mini review.

So I've had my CANbus wires lying around the house for a few weeks now, but haven't gotten a chance to install them.

Mostly because of 3 things: I just bought an E30 and been having fun with it, busy show season with MFEST and Bimmerfest and my fear of tinkering with ECU's and their accompanying wires. The latter mostly.

So yesterday I decided to throw my fears into the wind and get under the hood. After watching the PROcede CANbus install video online, I felt I could do this no problem. This literally took me all of 10 minutes to do and I have ZERO experience with the PROcede and the wiring harness. I did run into a few problem afterwards as I left a loose connection but I did iron it out. When I had everything good, I started the car and the first order of business was to clear any engine codes I've been throwing.

Easy peasy...turned the car on without turning the engine on and held the pedal for a second and released...check engine light flashed... then pressed the pedal again for a few seconds and codes were cleared!

Next up was to test the race map.. started the car..pressed map 2 on my key fob and the SES light flashed twice to indicate i was indeed in race map (running 100 octane in the car btw).

Now it was time to go for a spin. It had been a while since I updated maps. Even before the CANbus I think the maps I had were from early Feb. So this was going to be good. And good it was. I can't believe this is actually my car. Totally spinning tires in 1st gear. Car gets sideways very easily with little effort. 2nd gear and my tires decide to hook and the car just sprints out striking fear into the hearts of VTEC's everywhere. Shiv, this is truly great stuff.

With every new map that comes out the car just comes to life over and over. It really is unbelievable the noticeable difference you feel here. I'd say to anyone on the fence to go with the PROcede for the goodies it brings and the goodies we all know that's down the road.

Nice review! Why waste your fuel racing people with VTEC? Our cars are heads and shoulders above that.

thats a pretty general statement!!!

Our cars will have a tough time w/ some modded Honda's out there.

take a turbo built S2000 for example.....

Mote, glad your enjoying BOTH of your toys, you lucky bastard.

LOL was only a joke. But like Sniz said, there are some seriously built up Hondas out there.

So you can clear codes with a couple presses of the gas peddle? Thats a nice feature. Can you clear them other ways as well, I mean for me I'd like to see the codes that have been flagged and ensure that I erase them.

I believe you can view them in the Procede user software?
