335i DCT Launch Control Video's
Hi,
Here are some video's of the launch control feature on the 335i. I know they are a bit fuzzy and the camera man shakes a little (it's bl**dy cold in Scotland today) but it will give you an idea what it's like. PS. Much more impressive when your in the car and the back end is snaking about. PPS. Once the car is heated up you can do it as many times as you want. No need to drive 6 miles between launches as the manual states. Anyway enjoy |

Good vids Dougie, Would love a 335i with launch control.
It seems similar to the M5's, just creates unnecessary wheelspin. Prob quicker launching by brake boosting, what do you think? I know Mine too would spin like a biatch if launched at high rpm spins enough with a mild launch.

dxb,
V3 otherwise stock. Not been back to the dyno so bhp unknown on this one. G33, Hand controls were not set up correctly to enable the kick down function at full throttle. Takes quite a bit of pressure to over come the mechanism on the new accelerator peddle. Not tried to adjust revs via cruise stalk but will give it a go next time. Dougie. |

i was taken out by a good friend in a new ///M3 last weekend and he showed me this feature... By Foooook that car is quick! He has the DCT box and its a beauty.
i must say though that there are many that give it the old !a 135i is just as quick etc, etc. in my opinion..... Bollix is it. the ///M3 was eye shakingly fast on the road when poked with a sharp stick! Dario

My white 335 dct will bee delivered next week, already have V3 , dci, dp and ic waiting.
Do you have any plans for further mods? We will probably be the first that are testing DCT and tuning. Any problems so far ? Are you using the at map? |

per,
Only keep the 335i's for six month so it is not worth me tunning it any further. V3 is quick and easy to do. I'm running the 2-19 map as I only have Rev1. |

is it possible to buy a 335i dct and ship it to USA?
You guys are lucky and always get the best transmissions options. Get some 1/4 mile times.. good luck |

linked to the topic, the launch is a cool feature, but otherwise do you just rev auto cars in N and then slot into D?
Or accelerator in D to a constant rev with foot on brakes and then release the brakes? |

Seems the DCT allows lots a bogging upon launch, followed by a bit too much wheelspin to actually be fully advantageous in getting ultimate acceleration.
Good to see though that the DCT is being used on a tuned 335i with no apparent issues. I believe the USA gets the DCT for 2010 335i's. Somebody needs to do a Vbox test of the 335i DCT and see it's time from 40-120 starting in 2nd gear and compare it to a 6AT 335i. I'd be interested in seeing those results. |

Yeah, I've been seriously considering going with a different car for 2010, but have yet to find another that compares to the 335i in price/performance. Considered the M3, but found out my insurance will over double compared to the 335i, even higher for the 09 Vette (and am worried about GM).
Considered a C63 AMG, but even adding a tune costs $3000+ So I might be getting a facelifted 2010 e92 335i too. Would consider the DCT if it proved better than the 6AT for reliability with mods. And would really like to see IF, in FACT it is faster when accelerating anyway. Read BMW may be dropping the 6AT in favor of the DCT anyway. If that's true, that's a big mistake. Why not have 3 transmissions offered. Manual 6AT at $1,200 option DCT at $2,500-2,700 option Seems reasonable to me, and smart for people who WANT an auto tranny, but don't WANT or NEED the DCT and don't want to spend the extra money for it. But what I've seen with that DCT launch control doesn't impress as it's more of a "fools proof" way to launch aggressively without messing up. But clearly it isn't the best for getting optimum acceleration times (at least with the extra power of the tune). It should ride the DSC right on the edge of tires spinning and make millisecond adjustments to the power to do so. Not bog, then spin too much, then bog a bit again as it cuts too much power again, then finally go. Oh well, more testing needed. |

most modern cars won't allow a "netural drop"....if you rev in "N" and slamn it into "D" the ecu forces the engine to come down to idle before engaging gear.
