H&R coilovers for the win

So it's now been probably 2 months with the H&R coilovers. I really can't express how happy I am with this set up. Ride quality is great, car is not overly firm, will absorb horrible Massachusetts roads with ease and the overall look is killer. For any one on the fence, H&R make a great cheaper solution to KW-V3's for folks like me who will never take full advantage of the infinite adjustment options V3's have to offer.

The 'stock' setting on the H&R setup is damn near perfect.

How is the ride compared to stock?? Are you still on rft's?

No run flats here running F-1 GSD3's. Ride is not all that much different compared to stock, a little firmer but not bad at all. I would highly recommend this set up. H&R did an awesome job with this kit.

I got mine installed Friday and the difference is incredible. After driving around with them all weekend I have to say the stock suspension on the xi is garbage. No more crashing over bumps and no more feeling every little crack in the road. The car is totally point and shoot now.

For the price, I'd prob. go with the KW V1s for the XI vs the H&Rs

why? V1's are what $1450+? H&R's can be had for $1200 shipped. are V1's worth 250 more? I don't know? I rode in a V1 non-xi car and it was harsh as hell, made me not even consider KW's. But I am mostly doing coilovers for looks I will never track the car maybe that's the difference.

kwv1 for the XI are not $1450. i got mine for a heck of alot less. i'm sure you can get them for the same price of the H&R if you ask around.

Looks awesome, glad to hear they ride close to stock. Thats exactly what I'm looking for. A good drop, not slammed, with a sporty yet smooth ride!

I wish I can ride in your car to see what it feels like...looks good

JeffL...do you work for BOCH by any chance?

So I guess this is the solution for the harsh & high XI suspensions

No I don't work for BOCH. the pic was taken last week at a meet and greet show at the new Ferrari dealer. Was actually a pretty good show they put on for us, food, raffles, and Ferrari's everywhere.

and yes this is the cure for the disaster of a stock suspension the xi comes with.

It's actually set on the higher side. I think it's just the picture angle and parking lot slope that is making it look really low.

Are the H&R Coilovers not rust proof? Was reading another thread where someone brought this fact up. Otherwise the drop looks great

Are the H&R setup lighter than the factory stuff? I am pretty sure this is a definite near future mod but I was curious. My experience has been the aftermarket coilover setups are sometimes a bit lighter than stock stuff.

good 2 hear. when i was like 17 I had a foucs which I put some 17s and colieover on and had the worst experience with that! the colieovers where a known brand which i dont remember now but what i do remember is that the car was hopping around for anything and was really stiff. now i know that a BMW is a BMW and might be different but do you think that coliover will give a better ride then lowering vs springs?

i'm lookin to drop my ride and I would like to best ride that i can get. thanks!

wheels are 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the rear with 235/35 and 265/30's. As for the rusting question maybe this was a problem with older H&R coilovers but it's not the case with the new street performance line. The main thing that would rust and freeze in place would have been the collars and threads but the collars, shocks, and threads are all aluminum so there really isn't anything to rust or corrode. KW's are made with exactly the same material.
