BMW Key Fob
Whenever I go into a shop through the security barriers my keyfob sets off the alarms that are intended to detect shoplifters.
This happens everytime at my local Tesco and I keep getting stopped and searched, would be OK if good looking females did the searching. Who else does this happen to? |

I bet it's your keyring and not your BMW key. Walk through with just the key and it won't trigger it.
These detectors work by detecting a resonant frequency of an inductor (loop of metal) which is stuck under the security sticker. By coincidence, the resonant frequency of your collection of keys is at or around the same frequency - but I don't think it's your fob per se otherwise it would be more common.

When you shop at Tesco's do you walk your trolley up and down until you come to the till of a vaguely fit female cashier? I've started doing this recently, regardless of the queue, and i'm just concerned i'm hitting some sort of mid-life crisis

Do you have COMFORT ACCESS? If you do, your key looks the same as the other BMW keyfobs, but it transmitts the code regularly (so when you walk up to the car it unlocks).
Maybe this is setting it off... and us commoners who have to press the button don't have the same issue? The keyfobs use 868MHz... not sure what frequency the security systems use ? |

Once bought a Crispy Creme and could not find the barcode so scanned it in as a Tesco own doughnut at 12p. Nearly sh*t myself when the alarms went off. Had to eat the evidence quickly |
