Product Release: HP Autowerks AST S/A & D/A Coilover System

Proven on the street and track, this system is unmatched by any other system on the market. HP Autowerk's unique AST dampers matched with our custom Swift springs offers superb street manners and unmatched cornering capabilities for the track. Offering separate external compression(Double Adjustable Only) and rebound adjusters, the dampers can be tuned from street comfort to a full race setup in a matter of minutes.

Not looking for that slammed look? Or just want to retain stock ride hight, but want better handling? We can customize the spring rate and height for you! All other off the shelf coilovers can't do that for you!

We use the highest quality motorsport springs sourced from Swift. Why Swift?

Swift's R & D team created material, called H5S.TW, which is stronger then regular silicone chrome material. Because of this material, we could make the spring wire thinner, and could wind the springs with fewer coils, which greatly decreased weight while dramatically increasing available stroke.

We also use thrust sheets where possible. Here is why:

Thrust sheets provide a variety of benefits to coilover systems. As a spring becomes compressed the coils attempt to distribute the energy by unwinding. This is called twisted force. The unwinding makes the spring rate irregular. By allowing the spring to smoothly rotate around the perch during compression, the spring rate will return to normal. Thrust sheets also help dampening and rebound of struts too. Thrust sheet?s bearing action allowing the rotation of a spring allow the load on the spring to be more evenly Distributed which reduces lateral shock shaft load. Increased lateral load on shock shafts cause a reduction in the struts ability to rely on valves for dampening force.

*Coilover shown with optional helper/tender springs. Please call for specific applications.

*Camber plates are optional, but recommended for best handling performance.

*We stock all popular rates of high quality Swift springs.

*Custom Swift spring length for customers looking for stock ride heights.

*Optional AST 5000 series dampers are available(5300 series shown above).

Applications for E36 and E46(including M3), E82, E90, E92, and E93.

Dampers only:

$1849 for S/A

$2649 for D/A

Complete Coilover System:

$2099 for S/A

$2899 for D/A

SEXY!!! After this upcoming HPDE season, I may be ready to pull the plug and upgrade the suspension. Probably plan a road trip south to have the work done too....

Harold, that looks like REALLY cool stuff! Probably too much gear for me but it's good to see the progress on serious suspension options coming out for the E9x cars. What are you guys recommending for spring rates for a daily driver with track use?

350-400 front and 500-600 rear. If you replace your rear subframe bushings with the M3 units, you can use 600-1000 rear springs.

Hardcore! So this is what Orb was talking about! How would this set up compare to JRZ RS Series, or Moton Club Sport Dampers?

The 5000 series is right at the same level if not higher than the JRZ and Moton's

Yours will be a custom set-up for your car, driving habbits, and the ride height you specified. Other off of the shelf coilover kit would be impossible to retain stock or sport ride height as they are only designed with a lowered ride height in mind.

Thanks!

Harold, how are these COs different from the ones offered in the M3 rear camber link package? Why are these much more $$?

Harold has been more then cool in helping custom tailor my set up. We've gone back and forth on springs, rates, heights, etc. All the while providing good feedback on how the set ups would work (he should know, I've seen him putting in R&D time on the track more then once). He's even put up with me as I went 180 from my original goals (I'm switching over to M3 sways), always cool and helpful.

If you are like me, when you spend this much $$ you want to get it right the first time. Can't wait to get it on the track.

The M3 rear camber link kit has the option to purchase just the rear springs and dampers only, I think you were looking at that. That set up is for people who are running a coilover set up already and is converting to the M3 rear camber link, intead of buying a complete coilover system, they can upgrade their rear Koni or AST to the M3 version.

This thread is for a complete AST S/A and D/A coilover system, thus the higher price.

KW offers the front struts and rear dampers, Orb does not. It's up to KW to offer their struts and dampers without the springs with the option of M3 rear dampers.
