Just for fun

So just for fun, I tried to enter the same configuration that I have for my 750i individual (Canadian version) into the 7 series Build Your Own on www.bmwusa.com since they are now finally showing the Individual Composition option along with the exterior and interior color and trim options.

Now the Canadian and US packages sometimes share the same names (e.g. Individual Composition Package) but the content is different as well as how much BMW asks for them.

US Individual Composition Package content (US$ 7700.00):

- Individual Collection Paint Finish
- Moonstone Metallic
- Ruby Black Metallic
- Citrin Black Metallic
- Azurite Black Metallic
- Individual Full Leather Upholstery
- Platinum Full Merino Leather
- Amaro Brown Full Merino Leather
- Champagne Full Merino Leather
- Individual Interior Trim
- Dark Red Sycamore Wood Trim
- Piano Finish Black Trim
- Walnut Honey Wood Trim
- Upholstery Colored Alcantara Roofliner
- BMW Individual 20" alloy wheels V-spoke (Style 301) with summer performance RFT tires
- Individual Door Sill Finishers
- Instrument panel with leather finish

Canadian Individual Composition Package content (C$ 13900.00):

- Individual Collection Paint Finish
- Moonstone Metallic
- Ruby Black Metallic
- Citrin Black Metallic
- Azurite Black Metallic
- Individual Full Leather Upholstery
- Platinum Full Merino Leather
- Amaro Brown Full Merino Leather
- Champagne Full Merino Leather
- Cohiba Brown Full Merino Leather
- Silk Grey Full Merino Leather
- Graphite Full Merino Leather
- Individual Interior Trim
- Dark Sycamore Red Brown Wood Trim
- Piano Finish Black Trim with Intarsia
- Satin Walnut Honey Brown Wood Trim
- Upholstery Colored Alcantara Roofliner
- BMW Individual 20" alloy wheels V-spoke (Style 301) with summer performance RFT tires
- Individual Door Sill Finishers
- Sport Leather Steering Wheel
- Velour Floor Mats
- Individual Rear Reading Lights
- Ceramic Package
- High Gloss Shadowline

What I noticed is that when you select the Individual Composition package on the bmwusa website, you can not select the Sport package (or if you do, it will automatically remove the Individual Composition package).

The (US) Sport package includes the following:

- Integral Active Steering
- 19" Forged wheels Radial-spoke (style 252) with performance tires
or
- 19" Light-alloy wheels multi-spoke (Style 235) w/performance tires
- Sports leather steering wheel
- Active Roll Stabilization

In Canada, we have a separate package called Dynamic Handling Package which includes the Dynamic Drive (Active Roll Stabilization) and Integral Active Steering.

You can select the Active Roll Stabilization via the options page on www.bmwusa.com.

Somehow I just wasn't able to select or add the Integral Active Steering to my configuration on www.bmwusa.com ... hmmm

Now since you can't select the Sport package if you want the Individual Composition package, does that mean you don't get the Integral Active Steering function?!?

I believe if you order the Individual Composition for the 7(US) you cannot have the Sport package in conjunction with the Individual Composition.
and you can only get the integral active steering with the sport package but cannot have the individual composition. its one or the other
I was bummed about this when I found out when I ordered mine

That's what Edmunds build guide says. Wouldn't surprise me if BMW makes the active steering a stand alone option in the future.

Bummer!

The Integral Active Steering makes a huge difference. I was amazed by how much it cuts the turning circle.

I would agree that the IAS is really great. I'm getting used to the tight turning radius and the nimbleness it brings to the F01.
