Flat tire - replacement advice

I had the dreaded TPMS warning come on last night. I found that my right front had lost pressure. I'm running stock ContiProContact SSR and I believe the tire needs to be replaced as there is a split on the side wall. My questions are:

1. Can I replace just the right front or do I need to replace all four? I have about 26k miles on these tires and it will be a bummer to replace just one tire.
2. How about replacing just the front two? If I go with that, would that be ok for the x drive?

Thanks in advance for any advice/answers on these questions. Please don't ask me to go to non-RFT as the RFTs give me incredible peace of mind especially during the harsh winters where I live.

Can't really give you good advice without seeing the condition of the other tires...

All the tires including the flat tire have a tread depth of 8/32 left. Does that help or do you need to see the tires?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks Rico. Yeah, I've seen this. From reading this, it appears that I need to change all four tires due to the x drive. It doesn't make sense to me. I have to change all four tires due to one going flat!

That's marketing BS. Shame on you Tire Rack.

Research 'differential'. Your XI has two of them.

Steve, so you're saying the x drive is different from the Audi AWD? Do you think it'll be ok if I change just the one flat tire or maybe just the pair of tires on the front axle?

i would just change the two fronts. my previous car was a 328xi. i had a flat before and only changed two tires on the same axle. had no warning lights or problems at all.

Thanks. I just ordered and recieved two tires for the front axle from Tirerack. I'm getting them mounted at the local tire shop tomorrow. I'm also getting a wheel alignment done while I'm at it
