Exclamation Advice/Suggestions on Wheels and Tires!

I have a Black 2009 328i Sedan. I want to start modding my car. First thing is first. Wheels and Tires. I want black rims but I don't mind silver/chrome/ or whatever. Could anyone give me some advice? Where I should buy or what would look nice?

I was looking at these.
http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5750

But i dont mind some suggestions. Thanks!

What's your budget? That will narrow choices down considerably.

thru the Photo section of the forum and see what looks best to you ....... I've heard lots of good things on this forum with the service from WheelDude, FWIW.

I'm also going to be changing wheels/tires before too long and decided to go either HRE or BBS .......... Iforged and Forgeline have my interest as well.

The showroom, wheel & tire forum would be a good place to start. Just watch out for the biased opinions

There are plenty of options you could go with it`ll all depend on what size you want, style, finish, etc. I would recommend to make sure you research about that product you are buying to make sure it is a quality product

I was interested in an ALL Black tire. Like the one on the link. I have no chrome on my car so I just want it all black to combine.

My budget....lets say no more than $1,600.....

I was also looking at these:
http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5786

Whats the diff between "Satin Black" and "Glossy Black"? Is it less shiny??

Another question. If i buy new tires/rims will the Air Pressure light turn on? Is there a way I can make it turn off?

I think I've seen all black CSL wheels on a few of the forum member's cars. CSL definitely look good and color and on most colors ........ they also are pretty close to being within your budget. Have you looked thru the "murdered out" thread ....... some ideas available there too.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=murdered ............
also lots of ideas in this section :
http://www.e90post.com/forums/search...archid=7422523

Satin black "looks" like a silky black. Kind of a finish between the matte & gloss. Yes, less gloss/shiny.

With purchasing new tires and rims the TPMS sensors are either R/R from the existing wheels or replaced with new sensors. Once the wheels/tires are mounted back on the car you will be able to have the car "recalibrate" the tire pressure at all 4 corners. Everything will work as it should.

EDIT: If you want the TPMS light to turn off then either have the car recalibrate the tire pressure(s) or just NOT have the TPMS installed with the wheels/tires replacements.

CSL are the style that came on the 2004-2006 E46 M3 Competition Package after the original E46 M3 CSL (Coupe Sport Lightweight). They are one of the most popular wheels for the E90/E92 since they look the best on them

Here are some information from Wikipedia on the E46 M3 CSL vs the M3 Competition Package:

M3 CSL (E46)

BMW made a limited run (less than 1,400 units) of the M3 CSL (E46) machines between June and December 2003. The CSL (Coupe Sport Lightweight) received an aggressive weight reduction campaign, more power (up to 360 hp), and sharper handling characteristics than the standard M3, courtesy of larger anti-roll bars, stiffer spring rates, and semi-slick racing compound tires (Michelin Pilot Sport Cups). From the exterior, the CSL is distinguished from its standard sibling with a different wheel design, larger integrated rear spoiler and a large air intake hole on the left side of the front bumper. Weight loss was achieved through use of a carbon-fiber roof, trunk lid made of sheet molding compound, lighter exhaust manifold, thinner rear glass, carbon fiber front bumper, rear diffuser, interior door panels and console, lightweight racing seats, removed sound insulation, and the removal of side air bags. The M3 CSL's engine differs from the M3 with different camshafts, carbon-fiber intake manifold and alpha-N engine management. Several other features available in a regular M3 as standard such as air conditioning and radio were also deleted, although these options could be added at the request of the owner. SMG II sequential manual gearbox was made standard. Owing to the small production run and the complications and expense of clearing DOT and EPA standards for the North American market, BMW never exported the CSL to the United States, although some parts from it were later made available on the regular M3 as part of an optional Competition Package.

While the CSL was comparable in performance to the Ferrari 360 at half the price, this version of the M3 is often criticized as being too racing-oriented and significantly more expensive than the standard model. With its design so highly focused on weight loss the CSL became less of the "every day car" that the M3 is known for. Another criticism was the unavailability of a manual gearbox as some purists did not find the SMG as satisfying as a traditional stick-shift. Aftermarket tuners like AC Schnitzer have also tweaked regular M3s to perform like the CSL, but at a much lower cost.

M3 Competition Package

While it is known as the M3 Competition Package in the US and mainland Europe, it is also known as the M3 CS (Club Sport) in the UK.

Although the M3 CSL was never exported to the United States, for MY2005 BMW introduced an M3 Competition Package in both Europe and the US (a.k.a. CS/Club Sport in the UK): a $4,000 option which offered a number of upgrades taken from M3 CSL. The package includes:

* 19-inch BBS spin-cast (flow formed) alloy wheels (marketed as "forged")
* Specially tuned spring rates for the Competition Package; this was carried over to all M3 production from 12/04 on.
* CSL steering rack: More direct steering ratio of 14.5:1 (vs. standard M3's 15.4:1)
* CSL's M-Track Mode DSC with a button mounted on the steering wheel (deletion of cruise control and steering wheel mounted radio/phone controls)
* CSL's Compound cross-drilled rotors; larger front rotor of 13.6 inches (from 12.6 inches) with black painted calipers
* Alcantara steering wheel, gear lever and hand brake
* Interlagos Blue exterior paint available as an exclusive color option.
* Unique cube aluminum interior trim

The wheel popularity grew tremendously once BMW started offering them as an option on their MY2004 BMW M3. The popularity of these wheels were particularly because of their motorsports oriented design and the beautiful concavity the design carries. Some manufacturers started offering reproduction versions of this wheel within months of its launch. A few months back we realized the current replica market offering lacked serious attention to quality and detail and decided to offer our version of the CSL wheel paying close attention to all the things that make the original wheel so popular, in particular, the concavity of the wheel. We named it the CS7. Our CS7 takes cares of several thing the current offerings lacks including true concavity, a strong paint and structural rigidity that only comes from low-pressure casting. Here is a shot to show the perfect concavity of our wheels from E90Post member a l l a n:

This is IMO the best looking wheel for the E90/E92 and we have made it exactly how it is supposed to be. We carry our CS7 in a staggered 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 specifically designed for the 3-series and requires no spacers. They are available in Matte Black, Gunmetal and OEM Silver as well.

... I hope that answers your question

The term "CSL" comes from the E46 M3 CSL, a >$100k sports car that was sold exclusively in Europe. It came with wheels unique to that car, and for some time was very hard to source:

Ever since, the style wheels are now made available for the E46 M3 Competition package. The two wheels are not 100% identical but differences are barely discernible, yet highly debatable.

You can get them ZCP wheel OEM on a E90/E92 (but fender modifications are necessary), or you can look towards the aftermarket for CSL Style, CSL Copy or CSL Replica depends on how one looks at it. Theres many more different widths, offsets and colors available.

We do carry the CSL style wheel, the VMR Wheels VB3, and they are available in 60 different SKU's depending on the car, the color, and/or the width you are looking for. Below is a sampling of the different widths we carry.

So, in a nutshell, that describes the history of the 3 letter acronym made famous on this forum.

There's a lot of nice pictures in this thread, but very little mounted on BMWs for some odd reason - that doesn't make your decision any easier. The VMR brand is well respected and has been out there for a very long time - this should speak volumes for product quality.

We have wheel/tire packages to suit your needs if needed - keep in mind you will need TPMS sensors if you order tires as well since you have a MY09.

Making a wheel purchase is a big step. Give myself or Brandon a call and we'll get you taken care of. We may even have pictures of your exact preferred setup as we've set up most members of the forum with their wheels.

MY09 = 2009 Model year.

The TPMS sensors are used to as part of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in your 3-series, they are required. While your existing units can be used - it's best to not have the tires mounted in advance.

Give me a call at x22 in the morning and I'll explain everything in detail so you're up to speed.
