Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Run flats vs RE050A II Run flats

Does anyone know what the differences are between the two tires? Bridgetone Potenza RE050A Run Flats and the RE050A Run Flats II? I saw the type II at some online tire stores but I have never heard of them before. Is type II better? thanks.

Looks like they are different tires, but the only difference i could see so far is thread depth and weight...

RE050A vs. RE050A II

I have RE050A's that came with my car (also sport package).
12,000 miles and so far they are looking like new with my mostly "spirited" driving habits. However, my car is 328i with Automatic, so i'm pretty sure you would chew them up a little faster, i know i would, if i had a stick. hahah

They also look great, and have a little lip that kind of protects the rim...but i did manage to get some curb rush with my "spirited" parking jobs

I did have to replace one before when it developed a bubble, becaue I hit a curb. But the other 3 have more than 20,000 miles on them and they should have another 5,000 or so left on them. I am fairly happy with them so far. I do have a stick, but I toned down a whole lot from my younger years. I am just enjoying the ride most of the time. I do wish the roads around the DC area can improve. What the hell do they do with our tax money?
