So it finally happened, i got a HUGE bubble in my rear right tire. Has anyone been able to get bridgestone to resolve this? It seems like a very common occurrence with these tires. I am also starting to notice a bit of a bubble in the front tire too.
How long/far is it semi safe to drive on these at non-highway speeds? oh and here are some discomforting pictures... |

think you should be ok for a few weeks of non highway driving but you should get it replaced as soon as you have time. why dont you just ditch the run flats this time and get non run flats?

Bubbles occur because the drivers are hitting things in the road, or worse, curbs. You obviously hit something pretty hard with that wheel-hard enough so that the rubber collapsed onto your rim, leaving that black mark on the rim's lip. This isn't a RFT defect. I had the same thing happen on an old Honda running Toyo's when I hit a curb at the wrong angle.

I can assure you I didn't curb my rim... there are a lot of potholes in my area due to the temperature change and that's what probably happened. I just noticed the black mark too, and i think its from the tire.
I'm definitely going to switch to Michelin non-runflats. But I will still go to the local bridgestone dealer to see what they can do. |

Why would Bridgestone pay for a tire to be replaced that got a bubble due to a pothole? thats like asking asking bmw to replaced your front bumper because you rear ended someone... dosent make a whole lot of sense. You clearly hit a pothole since the tire left a mark on the face of the wheel...

wow, sorry to see this. you definitely need to that tire replaced ASAP, as others have mentioned that bubble is huge. I had three before dumping the RFTs but none were that big. that thing looks like it might let go any moment.

I had a pair of Brigdstone potenzas (non-FRT) and those were the second worst tires I have ever owned, next to these. I still have a pair of bridgestone turenzas on the Honda oddessy, when those wear out I will never buy bridgestone again. Oh and a refresher for those who forgot about the entire bridgestone/firestone tire fiasco on ford vehicles. People DIED. |

Thats why you buy The road Hazard insurance for them. I had the same thing happen on both my front Tires, but since I had the insurance. I got them replaced for free.

There used to be a third party company that did tire/wheel insurance for under $100. Any idea who they are and if they are still doing it?

I'd be interested in that if they're still around.

Only because they (the car owners) failed to properly maintain their tires, and responded inappropriately by doing things like slam on the brakes when the tires finally did de-laminate.
