What caused this damage?

Can more experienced eyes tell me if this damage could have come from dismounting and mounting Bridgestone rfts? Or does it look like curbage or something else? I thought they were perfect, but after getting new tires on, I see this. The shop denied they did it, but I said they were flawless before. Who is right?

Here are some pictures, it is a 162 style wheel. The mark is only about an inch long, but I paid good money for these wheels, so I would like them to be perfect.

Thanks for the input.

Doesn't look like curb rash. Definately looks like it came from the mounting/dismounting tire machine

OK thanks for the input. I already got out of there without paying anything, I just wanted to get others' opinions to confirm where the damage likely came from.

curb rash would look like there were little chunks missing, or some kind of abrasion.
that looks like their mounting head or pry bar dug into the finish

100% correct.

One thing I have learned when any work is done on any part of my car is the pre-inspection. I have the mechanic or shop Foreman sign the work order before any work is done that there was no damage or if there is damage where it is and how bad it is. You have to cover your ass when some one else is working on your car.

After the work is done, I check the car for any damage and then I sign the paper work saying every thing was fine. This then covers the shop from me coming back later and saying there was damage. I have never had a shop not be willing to do this for me.

Thanks for the tip. It sounds like common sense, but I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) either forget or are just too lazy do this.
