Are runflats ps2 zp good?
Since bmw on my 2007 335i sport sedan came with potenza runflats i decided to replace them with the michelin ps2 zp runflats. Are these better then then oem bridgestone potenza runflats?
I see many switching to non-runflats ps2 michelin, but i want ps2 zp runflat michelins. |

Our experience and feedback with the ZP version of the PS2 has been very good. They are a nice improvement over the OE Bridgestone runflats in nearly every way.

They are very good tires, a level above the Bridgestone RFTs.

I switched to Michelin's too
Well, my car is at the dealership getting the PS2 ZP's as well. I have to imagine that they can't be any worse than the Bridgestone's. Those were absolutely terrible.
Plus, if Gary @ Tire Rack says they're good, they must be.

They're good...but I wish they were better and actually be worth the money they demand...which may not be the case...I never had the bridgestones, but from what I gather from various posts, these must be at least a bit better...so maybe I should stop complaining about them so much...
Also, just to help us forum members, could someone who had Bridgestones then went to the PS2 ZP's please post a comparison? That would be helpful.

my thoughts
Speaking from experience of switching from the Bridgestones to the Michelin PS 2 ZPs on a 2007 335i (sport pkg):
PS2's have a slightly quieter and much smoother ride, far less impact harshness than the Bridgestones. Sidewall is just a bit to soft for this cars suspension calibration. Bridgestones have slightly better turn in, much better steering resonse and overall better handling. Next set of tires for me will be the OEM Bridgestones, as I am willing to give up some comfort for overall feel and handling. I know a lot of people trash the OEM Bridgestones but they really are great tires. |

That is the non-runflat version of the tire.

The only thing I'll add about the Michelins is the bubble problems I have encountered. The tires are softer than the Bridgestones and therefore more comfortable, but I've went through two front sets because of bubble problems. Mind you, this happened within a 4 month period. I wish I can stick with them but the roads in my area are ridden with pot-holes, so sticking with the PS2s would be a bad financial decision. As for the Bridgestones, yes the ride is harsher and the wear rating sucks, but it does handle a bit better than the Michelins. However, the latter has better grip, especially in the rain (even snow if you're so daring to test it out).

My car came with the PS 2 ZP's and I love them; I also drive a 100-150 MPH daily.
Winter tires are a must though. I got my Winter Blizzak LM 25 from gary@tirerack with Rial Salerno 17" and BMW center caps. I decided to chance non-RFT's due to lack of a options. Thanks Gary I am very content with the performance of my E90 335 tires (both sets).

bit noisy after 30K miles but it could be that 2 consecutive harsh Chicago winters, took a toll on them. 34K miles right now on them and they are still holding fine. |
