I have a staggered summer set up. The car comes with it, so don't worry.

Rolling diameter is key. Same rolling diameter with different width is ok.

I seen an E90 XI rolling around on a set of 162s the other day. Shouldnt be an issue.

There are other size combos that come as close.

I'm running BMW 162's with the stock rubber (225/40/18 255/35/18 on 8.0 and 8.5 in wheels) on my 08 328xi in the summer.

Yes, but is it OK to run 4 "Front" 189s and the same size 18" tires front/back on a 328xi? I'd like to be able to rotate my tires front<>back if I step up to 18s, will they void my warranty if I run a set of tires not "listed" for the car?

That should be fine, no problem at all some members ran 19's all around in same size wheels and tires...

Yes. Same diameter or very close front to back. Actually its almost impossible to be perfectly identical front to back, but I think generally agreed rule is less than 1% is safe but less is better of course.
