I have had three S4s before...I am keeping my 335 until the lease is up NEXT February...

Are these S4 reliable? What are the known issues with them? Expensive to maintain? What's the best MY to get?

Quick post...I think you can get a decent stock one for about $10-13K now...with maybe 80-100K miles...I would try to get a 2001...they first came out here with MY2000...and stopped in 2002. There are modified ones selling for over $25K...Mike at Wicked Motorsports in LA has a monster for sale...I am sure it is over $25K though...it hauls butt. Based on my knowledge of them..and my 335i...I had less issues with all of my S4s.. My first S4 had issues with a steering rack...and a turbo (I was chipped). My second S4 had less issues..I only got rid of it since I got divorced..and couldnt own a race car/tow vehicle/S4. My third S4 had some electrical gremlins..and issues with O2 sensors. If you dont go nutz on mods..you will be just fine. I never had overheating issues on track. I do think for track use you need to upgrade brakes.
