SOS with a slash through it on dash at startup...anyone else?

So this morning, I start my car in the garage. I'm about half-way out when the dash chimes and shows the SOS with a phone, with a back-slash through it. Out of curiousity, I click open the SOS button, and hit the button to make the call...nothing happens. Has this happened to anyone else on here? I turned off the car when I arrived at Home Depot...turned it back on...and everything was back in order...no chime.

Very strange...does anyone else have BMW Assist issues?

It means your phone is out. Call the phone company.

My guess would be lack of signal or some glitch. At least it was recognized and warned you. I've never seen it - but if it happens again you should contact your dealer and ask about it.

If that's the case, then the car doesn't constantly search for a new signal...you have to turn off the car, remove the key, re-insert the key, and restart for it to "re-connect" to the towers. Lame. It hasn't happened since though, so whatever.

no... its just like a cell phone, if your in a tunnel, or in an area with out signal you lose it, it will restore once you are getting signal again.
