I am going to this one, all 3 days. I haven't been to a bmwcca event in over 2 years, since I started tracking the Lotus. I don't have a hardtop for it, and truthfully I found other groups where I got much more track time.

However I am giving my father a surprise retirement gift and bringing him out from florida for this, and we are sharing the 135i. He has never been on a track, despite teaching me how to drive on a 1974 2002. I do think that bmwcca events are perfect for beginners, because they are conservative and excellent teachers. There just aren't alot of crazy sti's and evo's running around trying to intimidate everyone...

So hopefully we'll see some 135i's out there, I am excited to see how much understeer these things have out there...

Hey now, not all of them suffer from understeer! We've been fighting oversteer: http://vimeo.com/2904537

Hope you guys have fun out there. $270 is way expensive for Buttonwillow... We usually pay less than $200 for the day.

I'm not a BMW CCA member yet, if I want to go on the Buttonwillow HPDE event, do I've to sign up for Dual Chapters (I'm in L.A)
Thanks

Look at the CA thread from INFINITEKID2000... I suggested a May 10 event at The Balcony (Willow Springs). Also, I'll be at Buttonwillow tomorrow (Sat.). You can drive out and spectate if you'd like... or even sign up at www.speedventures.com/events. <$200.

no, its' just 40$ for cca membership, once a year, there are no additional fees for each chapter that I know of...

I agree that bmwcca hpde is expensive, it's even worse when you consider the track time, which can be less than dedicated track days, ...however...I personally think the instruction is top-notch, especially for novices. As you get faster, they do rein some in, in the name of safety or liability (that's just my feeling, not a fact). But the best part is seeing all the cool bmw's and being able to talk to people about them without having your wife apologize for you and drag you back into your car before someone gets nervous and calls the cops (not that that's happened or anything.).

You don't need both chapter membership to be eligible for both events. I don't believe Central Cal ever require a chapter affiliation to attend their events and most Pacific Region chapters has done away with the rule.

If you don't pick an affiliation National will assign you to the closest geographical chapter, which in your case would be L.A.
