Question about the LED door handle lights

Might be a stupid question, but a friend was asking me so I thought it was interesting:

I know that they only come on for a few seconds when you lock and unlock your car (courtesy lights basically).

But he thought it would look kinda neat to see them on with the car moving.

Anyway we can get them to turn on and off at our own will?

That's riceboy style. Tell your friend the BMW isn't for rice.

Hell you might as well get some LED washer nozzles.

Here you go: http://www.riceboypage.com/

I'm sure the term 'riceboy' will offend someone.

I'm sorry I offended you guys with the LED washer nozzles, neon ground effects, combat spoilers, coconut mufflers, and flashing cabin LEDs that beat to your music. No harm was intended.

Rice-Boy is a stereotype. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip.

According to the definition- we are all "riceboys" with adding the mods such as aftermarket rims and exahust systems etc.. You obviously need to read this before labeling others as Riceboy and use it in the term as described above.

This post is analogous to the treatment someone would get if he posted his E90 sporting a combat wing. Or the guy with the AKS exhaust.

If that is what a person wants to do than so be it but for you to stereotype it as being rice or riceboy is stupid and only shows your ignorance. You're not even using the term correctly.

I don't know, 20" x 10" on a 325 look stupid, is that riceboy?

The funniest thing is the windscreen wipers parked in the the center of the windscreen "touring car" style (preferably gold of course).

All this means is that one persons riceboy is anothers style.

Hahahaha! Yeah I thought it was cool too when I was back in 7th grade as a kid - but I don't know about today - now I just think it's pretty damn annoying as it gets so bright (in my friends car, a college grad) making it harder to see at night.

EDIT: I think you can get pulled over for that, too!

Perhaps I should rephrase my question. Can I turn my door handle lights on and off as I please and leave them on as long as I please? It is for safety issues while approaching and leaving my car.

Thank you.

According to the def of Riceboy- is a person who tries to mod there cars to make them appear or try to be faster than they really are. Ex. taking a Honda civic and adding mods to try and make it faster. Wide rims does not do it.

Thank you.
You can set them for longer time intervals but there is no way to permanently make them stay on or turn off. For non iDrive its controlled using the OBC stalk in the lighting menu last option, set the time as high as it will let you go (i think 5 minutes). I dont have iDrive so i cant tell you how to do it via the idrive system.

Hope that helps

i'm going to have to agree with Squawks, having the door handle led's on while driving would be no different than led windshield nozzles and tireflies.
