sport package tires

Hey everyone, I spoke with my dealer today and he told me that if I were to get the sport package added to my xi that I have ordered I would have to get snow tires extra and change them for each season? Is he pulling my wallet here or what? I decided not to do it because he said the tires that will be on a car without the sport package will be radial all season? Anyone wanna shed some light?

I think xi gets all season tires for both sports and non-sports package wheels.

Garage List
Yep Sipark is correct.

Xi's get the sport seat and all-seasons, but not the off-set performance tires unless you upgrade the tire/wheel package.

There are other threads on tire choice, but here is my advice. Get the summer performance tire upgrade. It is an E90!!! If you want your car to perform, you need the right tires. An xi with all-seasons will do fine in most weather conditions, but if you really want to deal with snow/ice, then you will need winter tires. I am not sure what the choices are for run-flats, but the performance -- wet or dry -- of current winter tires is fantastic. In winter, I would rather drive a 2WD with winter tires than a xi with all seasons. Yes there is the initial cash outlay for winter tires, and a set of rims if you want a different size or avoid mounting hassles, but you save wear on your other tires, and get huge payoffs in terms of performance and safety.

Yes, thats pretty much what my dealer had recommended but i was trying to avoid thowing in anymore money than I already am ready for... SO I was hoping to just stick with the all seasons. You have said that the all seasons would do just fine so I think I will stick with it...

Your choice. But definitely consider the sports package without the summer performance option. As Sipark notes above, your rep is wrong, ZSP on the xi comes with all seasons standard. I would look long and hard at the different wheels that you will get, as that might be another consideration. I think the 161s look great that come with the summer performance tire upgrade.

Hi guys,

I have ordered a 325xi as well but with the 199 whells option (19'). my plan is to drive wit the standard wheels during winter and use the 199wheels during summer.

Do you know what kind of tyres I will get with the 199 wheels ???? (all sesason or performance ?)

thanks

Look at the Product Info Guide posted as a sticky. It has all the info on this. I thought about waiting for the xi in the fall, but pulled the trigger on a car (specs below) with SP with expected del. July 30 or so. I live in the Midwest and we get a fair amount of wintry mix/snow/ice in the winter. I'm going with the winter wheels/tires. The problem I had with the xi is that if you get the SP, you get the seats and steering wheel, but you also get style 158 17 inch wheels. I don't like the 159s or the 158s, so the tire/wheel upgrade of $600 additional was going to be my route to get the 18 inch 162s with larger tires. However, then I'm back to snow tires/wheels ANYWAY, since regardless of whether 4w or 2w drive - summer tires do not grip. Soooooo, saved the money and time and got the rwd.

don't bother with the factory tire upgrade,

the pirelli's are garbage. and the bridgestones aren't that much better

you'd be better off to replace with some nice non run flat items
