2nd Schedule Service at ?KMs?
I have 11500kms on my car already and the first service was done at 2000kms . I asked the service department about when I should do my 2nd time and they told me to wait for a warning signal? Has anyone gone through the 2nd service and maybe share with us what was the KMs when you had it done
Thanks a lot,

Between 20 000 - 24 000 km
Your cars computer should tell you...it should say how many km until your service is due

Would any of you seriously go 20,000kms between oil changes?
I just had my break-in service done two weeks ago, and my service computer says the next oil change is due at 23,000kms. I do not intend on waiting that long for the next oil change as it will probably be well over a year before I put that much mileage on my car. I will do as I did with my E46 M3....oil changes every 7,000 to 10,000kms (depending on driving conditions and if I've done any driving schools or lapping days). If 6 months passes from my last oil change and I have not done that much mileage, then I'll change it anyway. Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't continue to do oil changes like this with the E90 (other than it's more expensive to do it this way)?

I did an extra oil change at about 14000 kms and now at 15500 it indicates another 11000 to the service interval.I intend to continue with the extra oil mid interval as it looks like that I will be driving this one for a while longer. On my E46 M3 the only oil changes were done at the recommended services with no ill effects with over 100000 kms on the last time I saw it.Just being anal which is OK!

1st service - 2000kms
2nd service - 240000kms that is 22000kms in between, sounds a little bit scary to me even though. If I would like to do a oil change when it is 14000kms, I will not be covered by the 4 yr free service right? and if so, how much would that cost just for an oil change from BMW? anybody done this before?

I believe that the car monitors the oil and other fluids and tells you when you need the next service - driving style changes the car computer's warnings.
That being said - I wonder if changing oil early will reset the car computer.... if it really monitors things vs. just warns you when your 25,000 km are up. |

You can ask them to reset it or it will just keep on counting.
I do not think the oil monitoring system is that complicated. There are 100's of gas compressors in Alberta that have a more sophisticated S/D system. I am just gonna let mine keep counting, I did the same on my 335xi. Keep in mind I use the car to it's fullest potential sometimes, there is no way I want oil to be an excuse at 80 000 km and I am winer driving my car. |
