How much can you get off when buying whats on the lot?
I have a quick question.
Just how much can one expect to get/pay for a 2009 335i coupe for whatever's on the dealer's lot in today's market? invoice? invoice + 500? + 1000? below invoice? i know these guys are not in the business to sell cars at a loss but i'd like to know "just how much headroom" i can deal with. |

It depends. Its a great time to buy a car right now. A true buyers market. A year ago, in a neutral market, when I bought my car, I paid about $300 above invoice. The car was not on the lot. Ordered from scratch.
You might be suprised at what the dealer has on the lot that they want to "move" especially now that they want to dump all remaining 08 inventory. Go out there and take a look for yourself. Good luck

You can probably get invoice when buying off the lot. I even got invoice on an 08 order however, when I changed my mind and canceled my order in favor of the LCI sedan, I ended up paying $500 over invoice.

If you're interested in 2008's, we have several 335i E90s, and a few 135i convertibles left over. You could probably get a really good price on them. Let me know if you're interested.

invoice is what the dealer pays for the car. MSRP is what the non-negotiated sticker price is on the car. The net cap cost is what the negotiated price is for the car

Yeah, what Green said. In addition, you can find a comparison between invoice and MSRP by speccing out your car on edmunds.com. Or you can find the price lists at bimmerpost.com (just do a search, I forgot where I placed the link).

Here is what I did and I recommend you do the same. Go to edmunds.com and print the pricing sheet. It should have the msrp and invoice for all the options as well as the msrp and invoice for the base car itself. I brought that to my dealership and used it as a basis for negotiations.

An '08 could probably be had a less than invoice due to the fact they just want to move that car. An '09 will be just over invoice but only if you can find it on the lot. Good luck.
