Best deal on RS19s?

I decided to switch over to the RS19s (I guess GT3 Tim was right). I am looking for a front set (I'll use the unworn Carbotechs in the back although that will alter brake bias slightly). The best price I could find on for the fronts is $395 from Turner. I'm sure that can be beaten. I googled around but couldn't find a better deal though. Any suggestions?

Mismatched wheels, tires, parts etc. will decrease the resale value of the car that's what a car salesman once told me.

I'd better not attempt to sell my car at the track then!

I get my Pagids from Craig at Rennstore. You'll need to call him to get BMW prices.

I googled also, but wanted track pads for next weekend at VIR. Since Turner had them in stock and UPS ground would only take 2 days, I went with them on all 4 corners.... It's only money.

Lucid, you're way ahead of me on track preps. I'll probably order my rear PSCs this week. I'm holding out for the Performance Friction pads, but if they don't come out soon, it'll be the Pagids for me. Thanks for starting the thread.

Thanks. I'll give them a ring to see what they can do.

The thing is that I have nowhere to go despite being ahead!

Thanks to you, I currently have a nicely balanced set of TE37s with fresh BFGs in wheel totes sitting in the middle of my living room, and it looks like I will be staring at them for at least another 4-5 weeks in this weather. My girlfriend saw the wheels and asked me why they were in the middle of the living room and if I was going somewhere. How was I supposed to explain to her that I am simply nuts? (Actually, she probably already knows that...) I might try to do Lime Rock in April. TC's wheels were in great shape by the way.

Anyway, I saw comments on the PF pads being "corrosive" on the other thread. What's your take on this?

Just moved my track wheels into a storage unit out of my living room after 6 months.

My wheels still have the PF-01 dust on them after over a year and some rain. I'm not worried about getting it off. My street wheels also saw quite a bit if this dust and it all came off. It is difficult to get off, but I haven't noticed any other ill effects.

what do yo guys think about R4S for street and occasional track days. R4S's suppose to be very quiet, with low dust levels, and are very rotor friendly

I called renstore. He'll check on prices on RS-19s and RS-29s, which are very similar, and get back to me.

It turns out Renstore has some specific CoF vs temp data on their website. I've seen the plot on another vendor's website, but not the numerical data, which are here:

http://rennstore.com/page/z72k/Home/...fficients.html

The plots are here:

http://rennstore.com/page/qkmt/Home/...d_bedding.html

Bottom line is RS-4-2-1s have lower CoF across the operational temp range than RS-19s. Plus, I can only assume that they would not last nearly as long as RS19s?

Check out the numbers on the RS-15s--not that us weekend warriors would need a set. Operational temps up to 900C with CoF still near 0.6 (you can't use use iron rotors at those temps though).

On related note, there are some specific CoF vs temp data on Rotora ceramic pads as well here:

UPDATE: I got a set of front RS-19s from a local shop today (not Turner) for $384 including tax. He matched Rennstore's quote. I can forward his contact info for local folks who might be interested. If you'll get these mailed out, just go with Rennstore. A better deal is unlikely IMO.

Pagids RS19/29 are pricey but they also wear like carbide compared to PFC and Ferodo which makes the initial purchase seem quite sensible.

I bought a set of Pagid RS19 (front and rear) from Rennstore for $752 shipped. Be sure you want them though as they dont take stuff back even if unopened.

Of course I'm right! lol

Back to reality....

I love those pads. That is my opinion and my 12+ years experience of tracking and trying all sorts of different pads, etc, etc, etc.

I think you will like them as well. They are the pad I recommend to anybody who wants track pads for damn near any track event.

Let me know your impressions once you try them out. I think you will also fondly refer to them as "boat anchors" after you try them. Once you get those puppies up to temp, they are pure joy. You'll see! lol

PLEASE bed them in correctly though! You will be rewarded! I put a link below. You only have to bed them when they are "new" (out of the box the first time). After that, you are good to go unless it has been many moons since you last used them (you will need to bed them to the worn rotor in this case, not "cook out" the pad).

Bed-In: http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm
See step 5 for the RS19's. Enjoy! (People will look at you like you are a complete idiot! Little do they know!)

Good to hear!

Somebody commented on corrosion, etc. from the pads. I never experienced this from the Pagids. They WILL throw nuclear hot residue onto your wheels and this WILL pit the painted areas. That is going to be true with any track pad though! The clearcoat on my GT3 wheels, on close inspection, looked "sandblasted". This was from the nuclear hot bits of pad. Again, an unavoidable circumstance of using a track pad (and REALLY using them).
