Damn it, halo rings' tip started to melt..what's wrong!!!

Why is this happening? They melted on both the outer rings causing dimmer than the inner rings. the pics dont show well but in person they are noticeable though.

It was fine before i changed to PMB.

Can anyone having PMB check your halo ring tip if they suffer the same?

Can i open up the headlight and change the outer rings?

What exactly is happening? Is it that you're rings are just dimmer? Or is something actually wrong? When you install the PMB your rings will become dimmer (at least with the Hyperwhite), so if thats happening its normal.

Was that before or after Brex?? I can't imagine how PMB would do that though, I mean PMB doesn't effect heat, its just a lens similar to OEM. The melting is definitely a heat issue.

Will check soon, when I go to install my Lux angel eyes kit.

i think the heat is not properly filtered and passed to the tips causing them to melt?

or perhaps the PMB glass came contact with the tips causing them to melt?

I believe PMB only serves to filter out the yellowness (filters different parts of the light output spectrum) to arrive at the desired color. The lighting is still the same i.e. via OEM small halogen bulb in the housing...so again that wouldn't be the source of out-of-spec heat/temperature in the housing.

That might be a plausible reason...I will definitely check ASAP on that.

The only think i can think of could be the glass came loose and the light was going directly to the halo would that be a possibility ? because when i installed mine the glass wasnt the same size as the original so I had to push it in and bent the metal a little so it could fit right but dont take my word i am just guessing here i have never seen this and i am about to check mine right now since i have the same PMB,s !!!

That's after, he installed the pmbs and was taking it out for the Brex install when he saw that.

Bimmer325, how long have you had the PMB's installed?

Maybe its just something wrong with the rings, and wasn't from the PMB? I doubt that the PMB could damage the rings because its held by that bracket. The only thing you'd have 2 make sure is that the PMB was sitting tightly in the bracket. Was the enclosure lose when you went to install your Brex? There might be the possibility that the enclosure that covers the halogen bulb + the PMB was lose and heat could of got in through there and caused the damage that way.

did you happen to touch the lense or the bulbs during the install??? The oils from your fingers are not good for high temperature bulbs or lenses...

Hey bimmer325, take out all the mod you did with your light and bring the car into the dealer and tell them you think something is wrong with your halo and the intensity is not as bright. Hopefully, they will replace it for you with out you running around screaming bloody marry and pulling your hair out . Try that my friend.

Edit: I betcha he went to sleep already...

From what MDS sent me last night, I dont think the LUX kit has heating issues. It has a specific component specifically designed to keep it cool
