My new motor - V8 heaven!
Finally got one..... sorry the pics are poor quality. The '55 AMG is amazing, frightening quick and the rate it picks up the pace on the motorway is staggering.... in for a service tomorrow at my local MB dealer. very happy, sorry it's not a Beemer, but if the new M3 was available for less than £10K it would be on the drive instead!

Thanks.... its 347bhp 0-60 in 5.2secs? (I think). 5.4 litres - hand built (by a German obviously) V8
It is in very good condition. Full merc SH. 67000 miles, most options (COMAND satnav/phone/nappa leather/sunroof/Bose sound). It sounds fantastic, I even got 27.5mpg on the motorway driving it up from Cheshire, although I didn't buy it for the economy of course! |

Looks very subtle Peter and no doubt it sounds and goes very well!
I had 'an encounter' with a V8 today but in the guise of an Aston Martin Vantage. I'd overtaken 4 cars on a straight and noticed this black car 2 cars back from me indicate, pull out and started flashing his lights. Initially I thought oh shit don't say it's a copper. But no, it was Aston man saying 'game on'. We carried on for a while and obviously he was living with me, hit some bends and he was further behind then a clear long straight and he came past and that was that lol. Be interesting your new motor and the Vantage in the same situation. |

Sounds like someone had some fun I was quite lucky today too with a Celica GT4 that wanted to play down the A38, pity it's a stright dual carriageway but still lots of fun!! Just a pity about having a boring passenger in the car...

Nice looking motor there Peter, a bit of a 'sleeper' IMO, not many will be aware of it's potential

Fingers crossed for reasonable cost V8 motoring! I had it serviced today at Mercedes, price for an 'A' service was £149.99! I supplied my own Castrol Edge fully synth oil which saved me about £50. Was expecting a long list of issues/problems but all I got was a couple of minor issues - car needs a waxoyl treatment underneath, one rusty rear exhaust bracket and some rusty exhaust bolts.
Slower time it needs a little tlc, brake calipers need painting, alloys need a refurb (some lacquer peeling and pitting) and longer term some decent rubber. As far as debadging goes; no way! I agree it looks subtle and doesn't look like a 350 bhp muscle car..... Looking forward to the summer for some window down motoring, can't get enough of the V8 growl! |
