cant run procede on my 64 bit vista!!?

I cant get it to work with my new laptop that runs a 64 bit vista. Has anyone done this succesfully and if so can you help me out. The last thing I want to do is do a partition and have xp and vista. seems like a major hassle. thanks in advance for any help.

when I try to run it I get a message saying the version of vista I have is not compatable with the software. I suck at computers too and I have a friend of mine trying to help me. I want to get this going so badly. One of the reasons I got my hp laptop.

I think setting up a partition and running XP would be the best bet. Vista 64 seems to be more trouble than its worth. Another option would just be to use a friend's laptop since you are probably only going to upload your map of choice and then get back to driving.

But if you really want to get into the whole logging/analysis/tweaking thing, there's nothing better than getting a cheap used IBM thinkpad for $200 off of craigslist. They even have built-in serial ports so no need to even use a USB/serial adapter

Cheers,
shiv

right click on the program's exe, go to properties and go to compatibility. run it for Windows XP SP2.

Im thinking that might be easier than doing the partition on my brand new laptop.

Do you have to install the Vishnu program (is there an install process) or is it a EXE that you open that goes right in to the program?

If there is an install process, does it go through that with out error?

If not it could be that the installer is 16 bit not 32 and 64 bit Vista cannot go 2 steps back.

nothing runs on 64-bit vista - just give up and install 32 bit!

Try installing Microsoft Virtual PC with a Windows XP OS on your Vista 64. That's what I use to run apps that are incompatible with the 64 bit architecture.

<RANT>

Put a varkin' USB connector on the PROcede and lose the 20th century serial comm!!! Next best thing is to ship it with a serial/USB cable for the 99.999% of users who DON'T have a serial port on their laptops.

</RANT>

If you're on Windoze, 64 bit Vista actually uses that dual-core proc & 4 GB of RAM your newer PC or laptop is rockin'. It is pretty compatible with everything I run, which includes MS Office, Firefox, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Netbeans, Putty, GoToMeeting, and Pidgin. Many of these apps are 32 bit.

So, all ya really need to do make sure it's set up to install as a 32 bit app on Vista64.

If I had the build files I'd prolly just go ahead and do it...(hint-hint-hint)

Hmm, why not compile the program for 64-bit? Maybe there's someone here who has the necessary compiler...

...maybe don't bother?

I think the simplest way would be to have the installer prompt the user to choose 'Vista64', which would then direct the installer to stick the files in 'c:\Program Files (x86)' so Vista won't get pissed off.

Shiv, are you listening? You know we love you, but you've got to hook us up.

This worked for me...........................restart your computer in " Safe Mode", then try installing the software.
Restart your computer in normal mode and run "Procede Reader".
