Sunocco eco-wash

Hi guys,

Anyone use the sunocco echo wash to wash their car? I'm just wondering if the blow dryer that you have to go through will hurt the car because it's pretty strong it seems.

I would never take my car through a car wash.

Its fine. I use one all the time..that said ONLY USE THE ONES THAT YOU DRIVE INTO THE BAY AND THEY GO AROUND THE CAR...NO RAILS AND NO CLOTHS.
There is really no other option to get the salt off when its -22 outside.
If you plan to drive a car in the winter in Toronto, it's something you have to accept and I would think is the best option out there. I dont trust anyone to hand wash my car besides me (worse to wash the car with a dirty cloths then these wash bays) If it makes you feel better, we have 3 E90 M3's in the family and we all use the sunoco eco wash drive in bays and have never had a problem. Also, there was a black E93 M3 behind me with BBS style winter wheels...anyone here?

I have no problem with using the car wash when I had my e46 M3 but seems with the e92 the hood is thinner so when it gets under the blow dryer you can see the hood getting warped while it's being dried
I can't see what the dryer is doing to the carbon roof but it looks scary what it's doing to the hood hehe.

Hmm...
The one at Rutherford and Thornhill Woods Drive in thornhill does not do this to our cars. I have seen what you are talking about, but with other cars at other washes, but never at the Sunoco ecowash I use. Tell them to settle down on the dryer PSI

Thats the ONE I go to!!!!
cool
Sunoco Ecowash is the best automated touchless car wash EVER!

I used to be an Esso guy, but then I tried Sunoco and its two different worlds. Its unreal..it comes out as if it was hand washed. The rims even come out clean, its unreal!

As for the air dryer...I think its totally fine!

And if you have a darker coloured M3, I have found that using the second highest wash (eco bright, not eco brilliant) actually leaves my car much cleaner because the eco Brilliant uses a final UV and rain repellant that on black leaves a nasty haze. Might be good to have the extra protection on a lighter car where you will not nitice the haze....which one do you use slammed?

Thornhill Woods/Rutherford.

its the only one, its the best car wash imo and my roof doesnt leak AT ALL. The pressure isn't high at all, compared to the shitty ESSO washes which dont even do a good job and there is a ton of pressure.

Your not supposed to take E93s through a car wash because of the seals, but like you said. I dont see any other option!

Sorry. I meant which grade wash do you use. I cant stand the haze that the top one leaves with the final protectant.

Yah with Alpine White I would do the same. On black the haze shows up pretty bad.

Use a microfiber to dry it?!
Bring one big microfiber and go over the car with it, it will look better - it will be completely dry and that haze should soak up in the microfiber with the water!

Or use a chamois, but in the winter a chamois is very cold to hold in your hands and may even freeze a bit! So a dry microfiber is ideal!

Rutherford and Thornhill woods too far for me
I use the one on Hwy7 and Yonge since it's close to where I work. I'll try the one at Markham/14th today to see if I see if the dryer is weaker

You're just lucky you have Alpine White! So easy to clean, Jerez still looks a bit dirty after ecowash, but not much I can do about it!

My e90 330i was AW and it was such an easy colour to keep looking sharp!

Oh and I find ecowash good, but there is a decent Esso wash that fairly new downtown at lakeshore/carlaw (touchless/rail-less)

and if you can deal with rails (have aftermarket rims you're not too fussy about) there is a shell wash at hwy 7/woodbine that is actually the best ive been to

Anyone know if the Sunoco wash at Warden/Steeles is trackless? Its 2mins from my work and I'm thinking about getting a wash done before I head home.

I used to work out that way a number of years ago. I am not sure about that one - but pretty certain the Esso at Woodbine is. Touchless too.

Yes and No. White cars also get that layer of dirt/grease on the clearcoat, so it looks clean until you wipe your finger across the hood or fender or trunk and its a different color white underneath. But the Sunoco so far has been very good to me.

BUT...with AW, as Im sure you know being a previous AW owner. The little orange spots of rust are hideous and my trunk and rear bumper are covered in them. Cant wait to clay bar it in the spring.

YES i noticed them bigtime on the rear bumper! Definitely a job for clay.

i agree there is that layer of dirt that you notice if you run your finger and clean a section and if you look close you can see the car is dirty....however, standing from 20feet, or seeing the car drive by it looks surprisingly clean all the time, unless you're driving on construction sites or something!

hey slammed are you serious? your roof doesnt leak at all???

i went nuts when i took mine through the sunocco eco brilliant wash (top of the line, which i again believe is unnecessary jus need soap and water - eco wash basic) because my roof does leak.

i have my m3 stored for the winter, but my dealer has promised me that they will fix this for me in the spring time! and its just a rubber moulding adjustment apparently...lets see

Which dealer do you deal with? BMW AutoHaus since your in the thornhill area i suppose ?

Fuck AUTOHAUS, i would ship my car back to Germany before letting them service my car - they are complete dicks at the service. Its the only shop who asked me to pay to top of my oil, and they are the only service center that no longer offers loaner vehicles. WTF is that?

Back on topic...my roof doesnt leak AT ALL @ Sunoco Car Wash on Rutherford
