Was toying with the idea ...
Of getting one of these :
http://www.fordmedia.eu/presskits/2009FordFocusRS/ Got a few contacts who have offered. But haven't followed up on it. Yet. Don't think it would lose much money in the first 1/2 year. D.

I really like that - and have had a sit in one as a mate of mine is a marketing manager at ford. Really nice inside and looks very mean in the metal. Sadly couldnt have a go in it or start it up.
That is going to sell bloody well even in the current climate. Brave step by ford doing it, and hope they get rewarded for it in terms of sales.

They do look good and a proper performance car as well, not a shopping trolley car pretending to be something its not.
BTW, someone needs to get Ford to sort out there downloads... 145MBs for 1.44 mins of vid, not what you'd call web designed !!

Best looking fast Ford for some years. Will be interesting how they get a that power through the front wheels!! My mate was about to go for one. I'd buy one for my wife in a flash if I could. Go for it. You know you want to
What colour?. Love the green but know I would get tired of it looking so loud!! |

Im so gutted its FWD, I mean what a waste. What a weapon it could be.... I know some companies that WILL convert to 4wd once they have there hands one one. I dont doubt for one second it wont be a fine handling car. Ford have made some crackers in past 7 years. Focus RS, ST etc. But it will be compromised. I mean the Astra VXR struggles with 237bhp and the Focus ST with 222bhp. Im sure with the trick diff their fitting will help considerably but its still fwd qwith humungous power to be fair.

You've been hanging out on PH again, haven't you .... don't follow the bleating herd over there. Baaahh Baaaahhh .. all the PH armchair experts go.
What about all the power/torque we have in our 335D through RWD, were BMW mad ! They dropped the ball there - it should have been 4WD. Never get all that power down in the wet - especially exiting a junction. [and so on, ad nauseum] 4Wd would have been prohibitively expensive and heavy, and the existing Volvo variation is hardly ideal. Don't you think Mr Capito knows a thing or two ? Have you driven a VXR ? Or even a standard Focus MK2 ?? I like FWD. I also like RWD. D. Quote:

Anyone who says you cant have a performance FWD needs to go drive an integra type r ... and not in a straight line!
Good set of twisties and it keeps up with most things it has no right to! I remember chasing my mate in his E46 M3 through a load of twisties on a spirited drive, he got out the other end stunned that the little 1.8 could keep up with him even though he was hammering it!

Exactly - hear say. Go try one. You are sounding exactly like those on PH who don't like Diesels because of what they have read/believe (without actually experiencing first-hand) ... and you know about those people ...
And you may not have been born when the big hulking 6 litre Ford Falcons were handing their arses on a plate by a tiny wee 900cc Mini Cooper in the Monte Carlo rally. To this date, in dry conditions, some FWD cars will post quicker times than their 4x4 counterparts. Do you really expect our big heavy automatic 335Ds, without LSD and with big hard "Tigger on a pogo-stick" RFTs to be better than a nimble, FWD, LSD and revoknuckled RS down an undulating, varied camber B road (*) ? Seriously ??? D. (*) Which I do EVERYDAY in the UK, forget going to the ring once a year

Having owned both (albeit the 335d only a month or so) driving experience wise, which at the end of the day is what driving is all about!, the ITR is far superior.
RWD, FWD, 4x4 all have their negatives and positives. If i could put a bloody babyseat in the back ... and wanted to get divorced, id buy another!

Well i know for a fact a 335d would go quicker round a track than a ITR. Well i would like to think so. Any one got track times for them, if not the 335d a 335i will do.
Dave i dont rekon it will out handle the bimmer. Im sure it will be a fine piece of kit.

In a failing market that beggars belief!
They must be really screwed if they need to raise the price in this market.
