Duke Dynamics= Garbage
So after waiting for months to find the right diffuser for my rear bumper, I found out that Duke Dynamics had just released a dual hole diffuser for the 335i in carbon fiber. Not only that, the diffuser had the fins on it also that several of us had been requesting...
Sounds awesome right? So I went ahead and placed an order for one. After exchanging several emails with the guys at Duke Dynamics, I sent paypal on and Jan 19th and paid extra for express shipping to have it delivered by fri. the 23rd or sat. the 24th. So I can have it on for a car show the following Sunday. That did not happen. I was given the excuse that it was Chinese New Years so shipping was delayed. AFAIK, the postal service is open on that holiday so that was total b/s. After several more emails, with very little and short responses, my request to get the extra money I paid for shipping back did not happen. The diffuser did not arrive until Fri. Jan 30th. Yea, that was some express shipping alright. Upon receiving the diffuser, I have to say that it was packaged very good. but that doesnt really help the situation at all... I pull off my oem diffuser, and test fit the cf one. LMAO! I had a friend help me hold the other end of it and there was no way that diffuser was going to mount up the way it arrived. The oem diffuser has somewhat of a curve to it, and this Duke Dynamics one was flat. Already, I dont see it mounting properly within some type of heat gun to try to shape it correctly. On top of that, I had to cut quite a bit of material off of the diffuser to make it somewhat fit correctly. This is not a DIY type of install imo. Its really hard to explain, but I will let the comparison pictures do the talking....... Im about to go back out to the garage, and give it one last install attempt. Pics to follow shortly. Sorry, just had to vent on this horrible experience!

Definitely post some pics up. I have seen a couple of their body kit items in Boston. None of them seem to fit appropriately w/o massive modification at a body shop.

I'm not surprised, I heard Duke Dynamics had some horrible quality control.

wow. i was about to place my order today... thank God for this post.
But then again, they probably shipped out the one for e90 rather than e92...? Last edited by Bimmeration; 02-01-2009 at 03:40 PM.. |

The diffuser-
initial test fit..... the middle section would not slip onto the bumper b/c it was too thick and deep. one corner will kind of pop in place, but then the other side pokes out like crazy b/c the diffuser does not curve with the bumper after I trimmed the crap out of it...... 3rd time fitting it on... had to do more trimming....

this is the best I can get it to fit for now... going to drill some holes and add a couple zip ties to finalize the fitment on the corners tomorrow.

return that garbage and get your money back. There's no way you'll be able to make it work. I wonder if they'll still take it back after all the trimming you did to it. good luck with that bro.

i do think they r from the same source
but from what i heard from the vendor who sells the cf diffuser they said usually u can take the bumper off 1st and install the diffuser before u put the bumper back on to car.since the bumper is flexable when it's not on the car yet so u might give it a try! coz i run into same problem with adamaster diffuser |

DD's quality sucks ass, I've seen their product first hand and have been telling it like it is a while back when they were still a sponsor here, they actually accused me of being biased and in support of another vendor, haha.
They're using the Chinese New Year as an excuse because they stuff is made in China. Quote:

send it back I think. It doesn't line up right even after you trimmed it. I had the same problem they sent me one that fit THEIR MKIT rather then MTEC... after all they re-sent one out right away, and everything went smooth. The bastuck one they have made is a perfect fit, pretty much 95%.
