What's a good deal for SoCal 335i Sedans?
What do you guys think?
I was quoted $1,200 over invoice for a 335i sedan equipped with: Space Grey, premium package, sports package, active steering, comfort access, fold down rear seat, nav, ipod, black leather interior and smart phone. The invoice on the above (with Dest/MACO) is $47,985. I'm sure I can do better, but what are the deals going for in SoCal. I found a discrepancy between Edmunds and the invoice I was given by the dealer for the base price. The dealer's invoice was $37,255, but Edmunds says $37,075. Any idea why there is a difference (or is the dealer slipping in a few bucks extra profit)? |

Cunningham San Diego were offering me invoice - 1500 (BMWFS Rebate) for a 335i off their lot. Unfortunately they pissed me off because they couldn't calculate the numbers correctly. Even tried to tell me I couldn't buy down the MF with MSD's. Came across as very inexperienced overall so I walked.
Price difference is prob because BMW increased prices by 1% in January 2009. Check the announcements forum on bimmerfest. I ended up getting a cracker deal for an 08 M3 Sedan at BMW Encinitas. Payment was only $100 more than I was targeting for the 335i. Good Luck! You're in Los Angeles, I recommend Philippe Kahn at BMW South Bay. He won't mess around with you and will give you a good competitive price. philippek@philippek.com |

A'ight, I'll bite. I'm in northern California, but I'll bet our markets are fairly similar. We've got over half a dozen dealers within 50 miles all looking for business and it's probably similar where you live (at least in greater LA county and the OC).
I bought my 335i about a year ago, in Jan 2008 - right BEFORE the economy tanked. I paid about $1000 over invoice - right BEFORE the economy tanked. Point is, you should be able to do better than I did, now that they're really hurting for business. There's a reason why you see all these great interest rates and prices on cars - they are trying to entice buyers. Go for $500 over invoice. Plus, you should be able to get a great interest rate -- 2.9% or even 9% -- assuming you qualify. My interest rate was 4.9% (financed) and that was a good rate, back then. Get the best deal you can! Shop around! No point in throwing away good money. I wish I had bought later (not really, because I love the car). Anyway, hope that helps and post to let us know how it works out! |

Best way is to email lots of local dealers for quotes. When I was shopping for my car, Pacific BMW gave the lowest quote so you should definitely check their internet department.

Same here - Norcal E90 335i, but mine is LCI. I bought mine for $500 over invoice. Ordered July 08 and took delivery October 08. You should be paying $500 over invoice or less. If they're trying to get more from you, walk.

Just get as many dealers in your area interested in you. Especially if you hint that you have a better deal they'll drop that price like a rock to get your business these days. Good luck.

I know its not a 335, but a dealer here just gave me invoice on a 328i, literally with nothing inside, just auto. And also a 1000 rebate which i dont know what its for, but im not going to complain. I am leasing not financing to say its because of the new special. So definately there are deals out there...
