'07 335i CPO Price Paid
To update on prices paid, I just bought a 335i (sport, paddles, premium, cold weather package, steptronic, Logic7, new dealer-installed window tint at purchase) with 21,650 miles, one owner, lease return, all service records from dealer, new tires for $27,375 out the door as an out of state buyer. I also purchased the Extended Maintenance Plan for $1,795 so with a $95 doc fee my out the door was $29,235 with me paying tax, title license in Texas. I bought from Defouw BMW in Indiana (Dan Kurko), who was very easy to work with once he understood I was shopping all over the US for my favorite colors (graphite exterior, black interior) at a very competitive price. Asking price was $28,900 without Extended Maintenance.
When shopping for a CPO, I looked at how long the dealer had the car for sale. Basically, dealers lower prices after 30 days, again lower prices after 45 days, and many times at 60 days will send the car to auction. On many for sale sites (autotrader, cars.com, etc.) BMW dealers offer a link to the free Carfax report that gives you the date it was placed for sale. Anything >30 days old is usually very negotiable, and it is common to see BMW dealers asking $36K+ for a car and then dropping the price to $31K or less once the car hits 30 or 45 days. Another good place to find prices is http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...delSearch.aspx which lists all CPO vehicles and prices, with links that show exactly what the car has as options (i.e. premium, steptronic, sport, etc.). It took me 4 weeks before I found the car I wanted at the price I wanted, and given the current economy I think it's a fantastic price but one that is repeatable if one is patient. Desert BMW in Las Vegas currently has a red 335i with all the features of my car plus comfort access asking $29,544 but the car is >60 days old (for sale 11/22/08). I offered them $26k out the door for the car, or $27,500 out the door with Extended Maintenance. The sales manager did not immediately reject my offer, and instead checked his costs and called me back to let me know he couldn't do my price but thanked me for my offer. I'm happy with what I have and thought this info could be helpful to other members. |

Great deal! but what did you get? an e90 or e92? the coupes and more expensive and this would be an awesome deal on an e92.

Thats a great deal!! I am seeing some coupes online for 29-38k for 07's, with same options. Depends on how long the car has been on the lot and such.

It was a sedan. I'd call Dan Kurko at Defouw BMW in Lafayette, Indiana. You can Google the dealership, and he's hungry for business. I also noticed the Desert BMW in Las Vegas dropped the price on the red 335i sedan (premium, sports, cold weather and comfort access) to $27,944. Make them an offer around $26,500 and see how they respond.

The big price discrepancies are due to time on the lot. Look at Desert BMW in Las Vegas...they have the red 335i sedan for $27,944 and a black one with the same miles for mid-$30Ks. I'm not completely informed, but I understand the longer the car is kept the more expensive the financing becomes, almost as if after 60 days they have to pay for the entire car or the interest rate increases. What's important is dealers dump cars as they approach 60 days on the lot, either to informed buyers or to the auto auctions where they sell to other car dealers. Dealers want to avoid auctions b/c they never know at what price their cars will sell. So look for cars that are "dated" on the lots, and make low-ball offers! In tough economic times, a few thousand $$$ saved is a few thousand $$$ earned (more if you consider you paid taxes first).
Good luck! |

So as a buyer, would you be taking a risk if you allowed to the car sit over 60 days on the lot since they might get rid of it while your waiting for them to get desperate?

Don't wait until 45 days, or 60 days to make offers. I bought my car when it was only about 40 days old. The key is understanding how the system works, and make it work for you. If you like a car that is 41 days old, make your offer knowing the price will likely drop again in a few days, so adjust your offer accordingly. It's just a great time to buy as long as you are patient and are willing to wait for the right deal.

Jonkaus... congratulations!!! you made a killer deal...
I'm also in the market for a 06 330i CPO, also live in Austin. Made $27250 offer for one with 26K miles at BMW Austin (with premium, navigation, comfort access) that went no where. My current 06 325xi lease is going to expire in May this year... any thread will be highly appreciate. Thx.

Hey guys,
Great info... So does anyone know if the end of the month affects price? I've heard that dealers are likely to accept lower offers at the end of month since they try to make sales goals. Is this not true because of the above info? By the way, I'm new here and looking to make a similar purchase around a year from now so I'll take all the help I can get! Thanks! |

Interesting thread; I am also in the market for an '07 CPO 335. I have been following a bunch over the last few months, and it seems like most of the 6-speed coupes with 20-35k miles, priced between 34-37 have sold in 2-4 weeks from Midwestern dealers.
I saw one on BMW Dayton's website for 33k which sold within a week. While it's a buyer's market, I guess these cars are still relatively niche which doesn't help us The price does seem to be coming down in general though (obviously). |
