Unlocking light?!!!??!?
I just traded in my 328xi and got a 335 coupe.
This morening when I unlocked the car I heard the unlocking sound but the front angel eyes and the trunk light didn't come on. After some driving when I locked and unlocked the car everything was coming on again. Was the light not coming on because it was like -14 degrees here in illinois ( it was really really cold today)? or was this some kind of malfunction? |

sometimes if it is not dark enough.... the angel eyes will not turn on if you unlock the car... usually when you unlock it at night or when its sunrise the angel eyes will turn on...

I've wondered this myself. I always keep the lights in "auto" mode, but sometimes the angel eyes lights come on and sometimes they don't. I don't think it has to do with time of day, because they usually come on mid day, but it might have to do with how frequently I unlock the car. If I have gone an hour or so between unlocking the car, the angel eyes will come on. If I unlock the car in rapid succession, the angel eyes will only come on the first time.

It has nothing to do with the time of day, the welcome lights should always come on when set. However, I have also had about 2 occasions where they did not, and it was also cold as hell (like -10) in the morning (garage is gated but open air). The engine cranked slowly. I believe this might be a conservation feature of the car if the juice from the battery is running low (why waste the last bit on lights?). If so, that is one smart car.
p.s. I bet if you ask the dealer, you might get even more of a bullshit story |

I know that for the LCI E90s they made the welcome lights standard. I don't know the case for the E92s
