Battery Disconnection and Settings

Have a question for all you DIY'ers out there who have installed alarms, stereos, etc that have required you to disconnect the battery.

Do any iDrive settings, presets, etc get lost when disconnecting? Does anything have to be reactivated? If so, has anyone had any success with those 9v lighter connector "settings savers" from auto zone?

Don't have Idrive, but all radio pre sets stay in memory. Clock was the only thing I had to set.

i dont have idrive. after dealer installed and programmed my alarm i lost my radio settings like radio presets,bass, treble etc.. seats,mirror,clock are still there.
