Pittsburgh 1ers pt. 2
Whats up everyone? Anyone going to drive their 1 through winter? I picked up an 01.5 S4 for winter so the 1 has been living in my garage for a few weeks... going to detail it and clean it up for the long winter haul... I drove it last night and it reminded me that garaging it sucks! I did get a chance to throw an ECU in the car and it drives like a totally different vehicle... 100% improvement!!!
any updates out there? Winter is here |

Took me a while to spot this thread...my motherboard went bad, and I've been sans computer for almost 3 wks now .
I slapped some 17" Sport Edition A7's w/ Dunlop's on for the winter. Thing is like a tank. I was debating getting a beater for the winter, but I have storage issues, and my car is leased, so I figured I can trade in a couple yrs. So what happened to the VW? (golf?) I thought that would be your winter car. |

Every once in a while, it gets glitchy (twice since I've had the car), but unplugging it, shutting the car off and restarting have fixed it both times. I think there's another thread in here about the 6fl connection cutting in and out, and the dealer replaced it under warranty. Just be careful not to force the cable, as they'll apparently deny warranty claims on any excuse.

135i. Oddly, it came down to the fact that we didn't want the sport seats, but I wanted the sport suspension. We just didn't like the fit of the side bolsters in the sport seats with winter coats on when we test-drove one (we're not 'big' people either, mind you, we're just a little too used to flat American sedan seats, and this will be a daily driver.)
I did almost talk myself into going into base 128i + sport suspension, but when you add the cost of upgrading the brakes and the tires, it just wasn't worth it. So to summarize: we went with the 135i. It was cheaper. |
