Fastest and Quickest documented 135i...

... belongs to ktdw. Congrats!

He ran a record breaking 12.5@117.6 today at Sacremento Raceway. His first trip to the drag strip ever. Pretty impressive.

He has a 6MT with full catless exhaust, catless dps, our dual intakes and an upgraded FMIC. He was running a PROcede Rev.2 beta with our Stg 3 race gas map.

He did this with a 6MT and STOCK rims/tires. With DTC on (which was closing the throttle well into 3rd gear) to control wheelspin. Trap speeds indicate that a 11.7-11.8s ET is just a set of drag radials away

Shiv

PS. My 335i running same mods plus BFG drag radials ran another record breaking 11.8@118.24 same day, same track. Good day

That's awesome.

I hope my 1'er can even get close to those numbers.

Thanks. BTW, I gotta give some credit to Riss Racing. There was some discussion about how restrictive the stock exhaust is (especially when compared to the 335's system), and I've mentioned that even with the DPs, the power was choked. This exhaust solves the problem completely, and the sound and weight savings are pretty good, too! :headbang:

Congrats ktdw, nice numbers!

I'm wondering about your 6mt launch and shift techniques as I am a novice about these things. Are you launching from idle or blipping? Light throttle with smooth increase or mash? Slipping clutch or more or less just drop it? Power shifting or just very quick shifts? shortshift kit and/or cdv mod? Shifting at 7K rpm? Sorry for all the questions just want to learn and get better.

I really not the person to be giving advice on launch and shift techniques. It was all trial and error, you see what works and what doesn't. My first run I was spinning the wheels halfway down the track...probably would have been the worst run for a 135

My plan was to try to keep the slippage to a minimum off the line. This is hard to do, especially if you are next to someone with drag slicks, for example - because your competitive juices are telling you to punch it, and they will always have more traction and a better launch. BTW, it's much more fun to catch them from behind, and blow past them at the finish .

Once you get going, I would try to change gears at 6000-6200. Anything higher will only cause more traction problems in the next gear (and I think this range is probably about right for my torque curve and gear ratios). I was a little hard on the clutch when changing gears, but I wasn't completely reckless.

Oh, some have said that you don't go into 4th gear, or it's only right before the finish. I'm guessing I was in 4th gear for at least 3 seconds, much longer than I expected.

I keep putting off going to the drag strip because other things keep coming up...

I'll have to see if I can give you a run for your money, but I doubt it given I still have stock catback, stock FMIC, and no racegas map, but the tracks are fast out here in Jersey!

I would LOVE to bring my car to Englishtown. Between the temps and the track, that thing would fly!

ETown and ATCO are both pretty fast tracks! They tend to do a great job on maintaining them both. I'm in Westfield (right next so Summit), so I'm pretty close to where you were back then.

I'll be going to the MIR rental next Saturday, never run on that track before, but they're spraying the whole track with VHT, so it should be pretty quick, heh.
