135i and Crossfire SRT-6 Shootout
Just wanted to know if anyone has an idea how these two cars match up in a straight line? Are they more or less on par or is one superior in performance?

It's an AMG car in american clothing. Engine is from a SLK AMG. Must be fun to drive. I should look into driving this beast.

Baaed on the specs below, the standard Crossfire has only 215 hp, more of a competitor for the 128. The SRT has a supercharged 330hp, which would compete with the 135i.
Models Model Years Engine Power Torque 0-60 mph (97 km/h)Limited 2004-2008 3.2 V6 215 hp (160 kW)229 lb·ft (310 N·m) 6.5 sec (6-speed manual)[6]Base (Standard) 2005-2008 SRT-6 2005-2008 3.2 Liter Supercharged V6 330 hp (246 kW) 330 lb·ft (447 N·m) 4.8 sec (five-speed automatic)[7] For the first model year (2004), only the coupe and roadster were offered (with no "trim" levels), equipped quite similarly to the next year's "limited" model. In model year 2005, there were six variants available; the two body models, each with three trim levels: Base (with fewer amenities), Limited, and SRT-6 (supercharged). |

I had and SRT-6 Crossfire for 1 year. I fitted the Supercharger intakes for the SL55 and twin K&N's. Mine was in the region of 350BHP and it was awsome, it also had a sprint booster fitted that really helped with launching it. Wheelspin was too easy in 1st and 2nd gear. In the wet it would whel spin all the way from 80-100. Traction control was never fully off, which was a bit of a pain, but in the wet it HAD to be on all the time. 135i is better at handling, but the SRT-6 was deffinately more fun when you got used to getting the best from the 5 speed Auto box. For example, if you floored it at a steady 40 it would drop to 2nd and rip your kneck of upto silly speeds without slowing. I timed 0-60 in 4.8 and 0-100 in 11....80-100 was 3.2 secs.
On the track the 135 will have it. In the wet the 135 will have it in the dry and in a straight line from 40 and floor it the SRT-6 will have it....you really need to feel that to believe it. 0-60 in the dry I recon would be very difficult to separate them. I miss the raw danger element of the crossfire, but for a compromise on speed and comfort the 135 is a winner. Without the intake and sprint booster I recon the 135 will be slightly quicker to 60 and about the same with rolling starts. |

I have personally tuned many of the SRT-6 Crossfires and I can assure you that they are faster than my tuned 135i.
12.2 @ 115 is what our shop SRT-6 can run all day. Upper 11's is the fastest we have ran. My best in my 135i with my mods is a 12.6 / 12.7. www.letmotorsports.com Stock for stock is a drivers race.

*Flame suit on*
So I researched a ton on this car last night and I may have found my next car. These cars have an AMG engine get from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. And I can fetch one for 16k out the door. Hard decision between this and my planned E39 M5 I was going to purchase! |

I recently found out about this car the other day. Here in Australia I think the SRT6 is bang for your buck as these cars have depreciated big time.
I checked online and the SRT6 is about $90-95ish brand new drive away... And there are some for sale online that are 12 months old selling for less than half of that value. Plus the fact that this car has a hand-built AMG engine... You really can't go wrong if you can pick one up this cheap. It must be noted that they only come in Automatic transmission though, for you manual drivers. I would really like to know more about the 135i vs SRT6 comparision especially in terms of straight line speed. It sounds like a close race! |

Nice car that is fast in it's own right. My only qualm with your post is that you say it is "all motor". How does a supercharged car qualify as that? :iono:

They really are awsome in a straight line and very understated. I still miss mine with it's insane pull to silly speeds without ever seeming to run out of steam, but the 135 is a nice compromise, it fast but more sedate and definately more practical.
The marketing under quoted the BHP on the crossfire at 330 as the Mercedes SL32 (which is what the crossfire is based on and runs an identical AMG engine) is 350 bhp. The reason behind this was that the SL32 was £15k more and the same performance and as Mercedes at the time part owned Chrysler, they did not want to lose there own sales to Chyrsler. AMG have confirmed the engine too as being identical, they also designed the exhaust system for the Crossfire, so it was matched to the engine. The intake Mod I had done was good for about an extra 20 bhp, but a pulley and ECU map would see 400+ on these. Never underestimate these in the traffic light Grand Prix.....unless it is wet and you will leave it behind then ;o) in the dry it will be good bye 135i. If you ever get the chance to go in one you must if only to experience the insane pull. |

My roomate just got one. He ran a 13.02 at 105 bone stock at MIR the other day. Pretty quick stock cars. Not for tall people though.
