weird sound upon opening door

Sometimes when I go to open my door, it makes this weird sound. I can't find the words to describe it, but it's like a 2-second long, loud clicky sound. I have comfort access. Sometimes it opens like 1 inch and sometimes it opens fine. Anyone experience this?

sounds like machine gun cocking?

it usually happens when the door is already unlocked and you pulled the door open too fast.

Friction somewhere? Try spraying WD40 or a silicon spray on the hinges.

Same here - it seems to be the CA getting confused and rapidly going through a few lock-unlock cycles.

I figured out what causes it...

If the door is unlocked and you grab the handle but accidentally have your thumb on the lock area as well, it does it once in a while..if you grab the handle without your thumb, it should not happen...

I think the noise is the car trying to lock an open door and failing...

In all seriousness though, just use some WD and you will be fine.

Not a solution...the sound is made by the servo motor locking and unlocking the door...it has nothing to do with not being lubricated...

As neteagle said, just make sure you aren't inadvertently touching the serrated "locking" area when you grasp the handle to open the door.

I had an odd noise too, but found out it was the power window dropping the window a 1/4 inch or so as the door opened and then closing the window when the door closed. I have a convertible so maybe it seals better this way...

I have that, too. I think it comes from the fuel lid latch on mine...

It's like it's unlocking the fuel lid because I'm exiting the vehicle or something.

BTW, I don't have CA.
