E90 rear light change?!
Just wanted to get some opinions on this..Do you think BMW will take all the criticism of the rear end shape of the E90 to heart?! Do you think they will change it in the next couple years?! i.e, the "turn-up" on the 2002 E46's? Im alwways afraid of picking up my E90 just to find out the 2007's have changed..Whuddya' guys think?

BMW took a LOT more criticism on its 7 series and they didn't change its looks at all until the scheduled facelift time, so I doubt they'd do any differently for the 3 series.

the criticisms of the E90 rear arent as strong as the criticisms of the 7series.. really they are more like passing comments. I think as more people own the car and you see them on the roads on a daily basis people will start to realize how nice the rear end of the E90 really is. I think its a matter of time, and when a facelift comes it will be more of a bumper/trim facelift with no changes to the rear lights

i agree, and i happen to think thats one of the best features about the E90!! I think they really transformed the car with the rear end..Its conservative, and still really classy..I hope you guys are right anyway..I would hate to have an "ol model" again, after a year or so...

I like the more conservative design thats on the sedan right now. that more flowing design would be better for a coupe IMO. If they made it with that design and a little shorter in height, it would look nicer on a sport coupe then a sport sedan. Like Bozo said, it makes the rear look modern and sporty yet maintains the conservatism of a sports sedan. Anyways, when a facelift comes it wont be until the 2009 model which is a good time away, and im sticking to my guns when I say it wont be a sheetmetal facelift (like the e46 had), only a bumper/trim facelift (like the e39 5series got).

The tail is a little weak, reminds me of a newer Honda Civic sedan. But the rest of the car more than makes up for it, it could have exposed screws and I'd still buy it.

The tailights are fine in my opinion. Anything new and innovative will take time for some people to accept. GM uses focus groups and opinion polls to design cars and their cars look like sh1t. Leadership has rewards and risks. It has been BMW's pattern to stay the course. The e90 is very conservative in its design. Some, including me, believe that it is too dumbed down in comparison to the rest of the BMW family. Personally I think that sales will be huge because of the car's great value and cabin size.
