clicking suspention

So I've noticed for the past couple weeks when I do an aggressive right hand turn, there is this clicking noise coming from my front left tire area. I have no clue what it is and I know I could just bring it to bmw to service it. The problem is, literally everytime ive brought it there for service the issue goes away as I'm pulling into the service department. It's as if my car knows it's being brought in for service. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone could help diagnose this problem. Later this month I'm also doing some autox and was wondering if it would be an issue to drive with it like this?

I'm getting annoyed with putting my stock intake back on and now I gotta take out the JB3. And I do not have the pnp harness either

Thanks!

I've been having the same issue. They noticed it at the last autocross; the outside front makes a clicking sound when turning. It is noticeably louder on the right front (in left turns.)

I'll have someone check it out.

If they can't duplicate the problem in the shop typically (at United anyway) the solution is the following:

1) You take your car back until you experience it again
2) They keep your car for a few days and typically the service advisor drives it home in attempt to duplicate the problem.

If you do not know your advisor well, I highly suggest not letting them drive it home. However, a good relationship with the service advisor gives you a feel for how they'll drive it. Most of them are responsible, but who knows :iono:

I had a similar problem on my old car. I think it was the strut bushings that were worn and caused that.

If you can demonstrate the problem consistently, you may want to take the client advisor for a ride and show him the problem instead of leaving your car there for everal days.

I brought the car there yesterday and took someone out for a ride. I went in a parking lot and turned right until lock and just gave it gas and he definatly heard it. My car better not be there for several days. Especially since I'm not taking the loaner car they offer with a 2 week wait

I can hear a noise in my left front as well when making hard right hand turns. It almost sounds like a bad bearing, but I'm really not sure what's going on up there. I thought at first it was just brake noise, but it seems to do it whether I'm on the brakes or not, which rules that out.

My next idea is that it's just tire noise from the run-flats, and I can't hear it as well on the passenger side. I was going to hold off on taking the car to the deale over it until I put new tires on, but I'm very interested to hear what they come up with on yours. Good luck.

I had the exact same problem. The SA definitely could reproduce the problem, but they could not identify the root cause. They ended up swapping the two front tires (and wheels), and that got rid of the problem.

So far the problem hasn't re-emerged.

I'm inclined to believe it's tire-related, as well.

I've had it in both front tires since I did the KW v2 install. The whole thing is coming apart today as they put in new bushings and Vorshlag plates so I hope it goes away in the process - but this seems like a common issue. The last time I had them work to get rid of the clicking they eliminated it from the the normal driving (it would click just driving down the road) but the heavy turning would still create the click.

Hope to know more about what was causing it this weekend.

Service and (especially) client advisors should not diagnose a car. You want a tech or the shop foreman to road test it.

Me too... same clicking. Anyone confirm from dealer yet?? It sounds like because so many people experience the same symptoms, that maybe it's not an "issue" or problem, but just normal for our cars??
