DIY Request: Auto Gear Selector Swap

I have seen the DIY for the shift knob on a manual but not on the auto. Is the process the same?

There is a plastic rod that sticks down from the Auto knob that I am worried about. If I just pull up on the knob like stated in the manual knob DIY will I damage this piece of plastic?

Thanks for any help,

Brandon

Just pull that ****er straight up. Put it in drive (engine off!), so you don't bust your knuckles on the radio.

Thanks, that did the trick. I tried this before but apparently I did not pull hard enough. That is why I asked here.

You really have to pull hard to get the F'n thing out

Did you install the performance gear selector? If so, was it easy?

Do you squeeze the button when pulling up?
