Small hole at the back of the left rear wheel well?
When I was washing the car, I noticed a small hole at the back of the left rear tire wheel well. I don't see one on the right. Anyone else has the same?

Mines the same - thought I had kicked up a stone which had gone through the wheelarch lining. Wonder what the hole is for, and why only one side?

Oh good.. I thought I was the only one. Yeah, I first thought it might have been some rock the tire kicked up as well. No idea why there is a hole there.

Mine's identical to yours Tony, although the hole is looking a bit ragged around the edges now. As you say, there's nothing for a screw to go into, and the other rear wheelarch doesn't have the hole/screw at all. Just going to ignore it!

what's interesting to me is what is on the other side. FYI, exhaust pipes, with what I call a heatshield, and a rubber bumper attached to that. My guess some kind of safety rubber stopper/bumper. Cylinger is 10cm/4" diameter and height is about the same, 10cm/4". I wanted to check my memory on cylinders and some wikipedia trivia... The volume of the cylinder is 3 times the volume of a cone with equal radius and equal height. I always thought it was 2 times!!! Man next time I have a cone of water/milkshake it's 1/3, not 1/2 a regual glass! EspressoBoy PS Does anyone have access to a mechanics manual for the 1? Is it in pdf (acrobat) Now that would be a very handy document to have. We could use proper terms, names, and pages... Again would be nice to have a sticky to all important pdf's. 1addicts documents! |

04Enthusiast k does anyone have pix of mudflaps on their car? I looked under and it's squeeky clean and I have 2k KM on it. I can see using them on the front wheels, but I wonder if they would really help anyway. I get break dust along the coupe doors & rocker panel (just below door). Mud flap only needs 1 hole? Also the left side seems kind of floppy compared to the right which I think is bolted to the gastank (correct me if I am wong).

Thanks a bunch for the reply! Do you know of anyone who has mud flaps? Be nice to see pix. I doubt I would put them on, even with all the dreak dust. Mainly because, the rims-a-wash'n is the hard part. But, when going on a long trip it's temping to consider anything that will protect the car from damage. I hate paint damage etc. Hmmm I wonder if there is a temp magnetic shield someone could get for long trips that wouldn't damage the paint. (thinking out loud) EspressoBoy |
