Headlight Auto levelling

Hi all

New to this site so apologies if this has been asked before. ive noticed that when coming to a stop in traffic and then driving off again my headlight beam sort of moves like a bit of a shake if that makes sense. i know the LED headlights are auto levelling however i wasn't sure if this is normal when taking off. I know its not the best description but its like they are struggling to find the correct level, unless this could be normal and ive just never noticed it till recently. any feedback is appreciated.

Hey there!

No worries, and welcome to the forum!

What you're describing sounds like it could be related to the auto-leveling feature of your LED headlights. Normally, the headlights should adjust automatically based on the vehicle’s load and angle, but if you're noticing a "shake" or movement when accelerating from a stop, it could indicate a couple of things.

It’s possible that the auto-leveling system is recalibrating as the car changes from a stationary to a moving position, especially if you’re on an incline or the suspension is shifting slightly when you take off. However, if the movement seems excessive or happens too frequently, there might be an issue with the auto-leveling mechanism itself, like a faulty sensor or actuator. In that case, it would be a good idea to have a professional take a look to make sure everything is functioning properly.

If it’s something you’ve only recently noticed, it might also be worth double-checking if the headlights are clean, as dirt or debris on the sensors can sometimes cause odd behavior.

Hope that helps!

How old is the car?

The cheap Valeo LED headlights in the F40s get damaged easily and I have seen the movement motor completely break off if it had a knock and seen that move up and down.

If its under warranty get it looked at asap.

Hey,

I observed the same "issue" with my "552 Adaptive LED headlight". The car has 4 years and 40kkm of mileage - totally no colision. When I stay behind the any car on the red light, everything is fine. When I run the beam shakes a little bit but only in moment of start. It looks like "loosen bulb" in lamp without bulb . Additionally I observed it when I ride slowly ~30km on the road made from "stone bricks". Is it normal ? Car is still under warranty.
