Chrome Trim?
When I first ordered my 135 with the sport package, I knew I would have preferred chrome window trim to shadowline, but I had to prioritize. I recently bumped into the window trim while carrying a screwdriver , and the resulting scratch in the black coating revealed a silver/chrome finish.
Is it possible to either chemically strip or gently polish/sand off this color and end up with something chrome-like? Is this trim hard to remove? Anyone know what I might be getting into? |

I think my first question was too far reaching. Does anyone know how to remove the window trim? If I can take it off without wrecking it, I would feel more comfortable about assessing how easily the shadowline color could be removed. Are there any special tools required?

Bump....
Hi Peoples, i recently ordered a Vert and had to settle for a car in the dealers inventory which doesn't have the chrome trim, the only way i could get the chrome trim in the colour combo i wanted would have been to factory order and wait 3 months which due to personal circumstances was impossible. So i too am very interested in knowing how easily the chrome/black trim around the windows can be removed/replaced. The only information i was given was by a salesperson at the bmw dealer who said that to remove the trim would lead to destroying it, which of course would mean swapping is out of the question and that one would need to purchase a new trim kit from BMW, hence i am quite a bit skeptical of his claim. Does anyone know more or have experience in regards to this particular issue? Cheers |

For coupe, the rear trim is actually connected to the window panel. So, you'll have to purchase the window panel as well. From what the dealer told me... it came close to $500 per side.
I was a chrome person too... but I'm so glad I got the shadowline now.
