I am getting 27mpg @ 85-95mph on the motorway.

Combined in town and the addiction of hearing the BMS mean I get around 22mpg.

Pretty good really.

Tell your mate that the TTS is a mistake. Yes it is very quick, but it's the numbest drive ever. There is no feedback through the wheel, the steering is overly light, the engine sounds boring and it's 30bhp short of the 135i but £4k more.

On the plus sides, Superchips do a remote BlueFin chip that increases it to a reliable 309bhp. But the RS TT will be out next year and I think that's the TT worth going for.

Esscolab, tell me this isn't true.

How can you spend £600 on the TMAP Superchips upgrade, then go and spoil it all by sticking "cheapo .95" in.

Stick to Tesco 99 or you'll be dropping a far bit in the horsepower stakes.

Mad (with you)!

Mad Chemist,

Shame on me in know! When i pootle around town I put the cheap fuel in. I tend to only put the 99 in when I go for long distances (which is rare now as the bloody price of fuel is astronomical)

I may resort to squeezing a tramp and hold his mouth other the fuel cap to get some meth breath if fuel bills keep on escalating like this!

21mpg on 97 RON BP Ultimate. Mostly driving on empty country roads.

Maybe I'm enjoying this car a bit much...

Tesco Value! blimey, I can't afford that luxurious brand any more. I'm on Cost Cutters brand, the dented tins with the reduced to clear labels on them.

I've been putting the pricey stuff in since I got the car (to answer your initial question - 23.5mpg approx 1500 miles urban start-stop driving at rush hour with 500 miles on the motorway) but had to put the cheap stuff in recently as I couldn't find a pump with high octane. But my bank balance is suffering.

Is there are any harm going from one to the other?
Can any of you lend me some money?

I don't think it actually harms the car, the ECU apparently notices though and adjusts various settings accordingly. What settings though are a mystery...

Anyone ?

MattD,

That's a bit disturbing being quoted that much!

I am 37 with 5 Yrs No claims. Mileage around 5000 per year, kept in garage blah blah blah.

Yes I am now using them, you are correct it is now £550 with £200 excess and Fully Comp. I use an Insurance broker and they got the price from Performance Direct, so if anything it would be more I would imagine as i'm using a middle man.

You should have a chat with Premium Ryan Insurance and go through them, perhaps they have a low cost deal with Performance Direct....

Their No is 08707549391

So the quoted 21/30/40mpgs isn't strictly true?
