Does 56 PSI in 18" Runflats sound OK?.

Went to servo to check the pressure in my tyres and was surprised to find 56 PSI in every tyre. I've done 1200km and just thought the ride was "firm". While adjusting the pressure back to 40 PSI I thought that maybe the digital pump at the servo was giving incorrect readings. I drove home and checked with my accurate digital pressure gauge and it read 40.2 so now I know what the $3500 pre-delivery fee is for, Jack S__t!

The tyre plate inside the drivers door is KPa but the range is 260-300 and 300 KPa is 43.5 PSI (thats for 4 people with luggage doing 160+ km/h)

Dealers often overinflate tires out of habit (often cars will stand for long periods on the lot). 56psi is too high and could be dangerous in a situation.
$3500 for delivery fee is also high!

It says on the sidewall in large writing, DO NOT OVER INFLATE , Max 51 PSI, There are pot holes all over the roads since the rain, that would have been great to hit one and pop the tyre because the dealer didn't check the pressures!! I must say the steering feels heavier at 40 PSI in the tyres.

Ha! I put my 130i in for a "pitstop" free service (check oil, water, brake fluid and tyre pressures). Found my tyres were 26psi all round! I somehow doubt they checked the tyres.

Now running 38 rear/36 front - and it's made a significant difference to fuel consumption!

How far did you have to drive to get to the servo? The length of the trip would affect how cold the tyres are when you check the pressure. Seems high anyway.

Checked it after 1/2 hour trip but checked the car again this morning (cold) and its at 39.5 PSI, so thats 0.5 diff from hot (warm)

Good to know. I thought the effect would be greater (but not enough to drive it all the way up to 56psi), but I can't argue your real data.
