iPod Classic or Nano?

I'm inclined to get a nano, but I've heard that song title/artist doesn't show up on the stereo with the nano. Can anyone confirm this? (Tried to search, and got nothing definite.)

Thanks.

See the sticky on Audio Bitrates that john970 posted at the top of this forum. Suspect you want a Gen 5.5 Classic.

thanks, but the actual question was..

will the usb drive show just as much on screen info as a ipod will?

I'm talking real basic, like i have separate folders for artist and thats about it. Can I skip thru the folders with both a ipod and a usb thumb from the alpine control?

Just get the classic. I had to upgrade when my 30gb video iPod ran out of room.

I have used a 16Gb USB thumb drive, iPhone and Nano and there is no differences in what is displayed. I would not recommend any iPod unless you want to use Audible audiobooks or iTunes to download podcasts, that is the only advantage of any iPod. Otherwise, go with a USB thumb drive or hardrive (if you want more capacity).

+1 on the no difference, but I wanted to add that another advantage of the ipod is the ability to use playlists. Alternatively if you're using a thumbdrive, you can just organize files into one folder to effectively create a "playlist", but if you're using your ipod all the time outside the car and want to listen to your playlists, you may want to consider just hooking that up into the car.

ill have to read the owners manual to find out how to move forward a folder instead of song by song.

I picked up a used 60GB 4G ipod off craigslist just for use in the 1er.. only set me back $80 and I never have to worry about forgetting it or anything.

Maybe something worth looking into.
