Need help with scratches in windshield...

My wife's car has some scratches on the front windshield. I think in the winter there might have been rocks/snow/ice or what not on the wipers when she turned them on. Anyways, what's a good product to remove them? Are they all required to use an orbital polisher? I don't have one if they do require it. Also, what's a good product to remove stains on cloth interior(seperate car)? Thanks in advance for help/info.

I've been told by a local windshield shop that if you can feel the scratches with your fingernail then there's nothing that can be done.

If not, Griots sells a windshield polish that can be applied by hand or orbital. Polishing a windshield is at your own risk though.

I was told the same thing, if the scratch is deep enough to feel, it can't be repaired. In order to remove a scratch that deep, you have to remove so much material that you will cause noticable distortion in the galss...and that's bad on a windshield.

I have the Griots glass kit (and a Porter Cable polisher) and it does a great job of getting rid of very minor pits and scratches and getting the glass really clean but it won't remove deep scrathces.

^^^^ Do what he says and see how it looks. If you plan on keeping the car long enough, you will be replacing the windshield at some point anyway. I have on last 2 cars.
