I can't speak for this process; however, I have a friend with a MazdaSpeed3 in True Red that paid for a similar coating to be put on upon pickup and with very little effort his paint always looks phenomenal.

I would be weary of anything the dealership offers you.. I don't trust dealership detailers to begin with, which is why I'll be driving my car home plastic wrapped. Might want to have a talk with the head detailer and see what kind of products and methods he uses and make the decision after

General consensus is that it is a waste of money. I find it hard to believe that they would actually have this outsourced too. How is it possible that all across canada they have the same coating? It must come from the factory anyway. so even if you don't pay for it you already have it on your car. Worst case, it isn't there, a good wax job will probably provide the same level of protection. My opinion only.

I can't speak for your dealership but here's my experience from working at a Toyota and then Honda dealer: SCAM !! Both stores offered similar "Paint Protection" and all it consisted of was a detail kid making $7.00 an hour applying "polish" to the car. We were constantly getting complaints from people who paid for it and 3-6 months later the car needed polishing again, if not sooner. One sold "Xzlion" and the other was "Paint Guard" and they charged anywhere from $200.00 to $975.00 depending on how gulliable the customer was.

No experience with it, though I side with the people who are saying that an owner can get very nice results on his own.
I'm no genius, but my car looks pretty nice, and I have been the sole caretaker. And, I was able to rectify my friend's Cayman S when the dealer delivered it full of swirls. And maybe it's just me, but I like knowing that I was responsible for the shine on my car, and the fact that it shrugs off winter even though it is driven daily. |

But, for added fun, ask to see them do it to someone else's car and ask to see the products they're using. Then give them a hard time for charging a few hundred dollars for wax. |

Only "extra" I would really be interested in for a brand new car would be a clear bra, but you can have this done cheaper if you source an installer yourself (usually) |
