2006-2 SatNavPro DVD: Postcodes?

Does anyone here use the 2006-2 DVD- has the postcode entry been removed from the point where you'd normally enter the town/city?

Thanks.

Post code entry? I wish.

Does the new 2006-2 version have this feature?

I seem to recall entering the post code at the pub during the first UK meet and, aside from sending us all on a wild goose chase (wrong postcode), came up with an address. I think I'm using 2006-1.

The 2006-1 DVD does have postcode entry,as do previous discs, but Navtech messed up the 2006-2 disc & there are apparently very few recognised postcodes- eg W1- just great!

Sounds like a defective product. It should be recalled.

In the City field, dial in the postcode (iDrive). I just tried putting in my postcode and I was only able to get the first 4 characters before it decided that was enough.

I'm also running 2006-1 Nav Disc.

If you have Voice recognition in the car, you should be able to speak the destination / postcode, but you'll need at least the progman 20 software update if the car was built before September 05, & psotcode entry won't work with the 2006-2 disc, as I've said before.

BTW- your dealer deserves a kick up his ar*e

All the best.

I don't understand you why you say that, Viv.

If the dealer said that postcodes don't work and the 2006-2 disc doesn't support postcodes, seems to me the dealer was correct.

If my dealer told me I can't have postcode entry in my car, then I'd ask him if he meant with that particular disk or with any disc.

330m's post about the dealer's comment doesn't make that very clear.
Did the dealer mean that particular disc or the navigation system?

Future discs will allow postcode entry, as previous discs have allowed.

If the dealer had mentioned all of the above, then I wouldn't have hesitated in thanking him.

However, based on what 330m has said, I think he deserves the kick.
He should have told 330m that future discs are expected to allow postcode entry again & the 2006-2 disc has an error which is a known fault of Navteq.

From what 330m has said, I'm assuming he was 'p*ssed' because his dealer told him the satnav system couldn't handle postcodes, not the disc.

In my book, not giving accurate, appropriate & relevant info is as poor as not giving any info at all, so that is why I think the dealer deserves a kick, Floyd!

All the best.

Viv

I have 2006-1 and I was pissed cos I though the system couldn't do Postcodes. (I previously enquired about 2006-2 disc and the dealers wanted £250+VAT for it so I told them where to go)

Tried postcodes last night, and as SoYank said you can only put in M20 6 (example), then it stops. I still have to put in the street name and number.

But when you put in the street name only, it filters down to the few occurences of the name anyway. Like our street 'Atwood Road' is the only one in the UK, so the postcode is no use. I suppose if you were going to 'corporation street' (of which there are hundreds) then the postcode would narrow it down quicker.

I'm sure it will come in handy in the future.

Very well. Size 9 reboot on its way.

Also, I stand by my earlier comment that the product is defective. NavTeq should have to replace the disc without charge if so asked.

I agree with you Floyd- the product is defective, because it claims to provide postcode entry, but doesn't.

330m probably doesn't know this, but we had a whole load of trouble at UK1, where those of us who had SatNav Pro, used it to get to the curry house, but ended up in the wrong village, with the same first half of the postcode & the same street name!
It made the drive there a whole lot more enjoyable though!
