Swapped e-brake handle last night...
I swapped out the black e-brake handle with a pearlescent chrome handle last night. Never did this before on other cars so it took me awhile. I did not want to rush and possibly break some tabs or scratch and rip the leather brake boot. Here are a couple of pictures. :thumbup:

I got the handle below retail price from Irvine BMW in California. Call their parts dept to check it out and ask for Alex.
My local dealer up here was quoting me 20% above the BMWUSA suggested retail price. This did not even include installation if they were to do it.

Hey wa128, how close is it to matching the shifter? I was considering spending the $70 or so bucks on that as I think it really adds a lot to the interior, even though it looks completley phallic.

The top half of the handle is the same chrome as the shift lever's. The bottom half is the same black leather as that of the shift lever as well.
I got the handle for less than $70, by the way. Irvine BMW...give them a call and see if the price is still below that.

1. Use a small flathead screwdriver (or interior tool), slide it gently between the leather boot and console frame at the back end of the boot assembly first. There is a tab that holds the boot in place. Unhook this tab first then all of the other tabs situated around the perimeter of the boot assembly are very, very easy to unhook. 2. Pull the boot cover back over the e-brake and you will see a zip tie that holds the boot to the handle. Cut the zip tie and slide the boot off. 3. The e-brake piece is held in place on the metal handle shaft by two tabs; one on either side of the metal handle. Insert a flathead screwdriver between the e-brake piece and the metal shaft to unclip the e-brake. I had to pry mine open to get it to unclip. 4. Slide off the old piece and slide on the new one SECURELY. 5. Slide the boot back over the e-brake and use about an 8" zip tie to secure the boot to the throat of the new e-brake piece. 6. Pull the rest of the boot assembly back over the handle and snap the assembly back into place. Good luck!
