I don't know anything about these sticks. I want to get the iPod/USB option and would like to know about how many average length songs will fit on a 1gig stick? I saw 3 on sale for $45 @ Bestbuy. About how much time fits on a 1 gig? Thanks, Jeff D.

Jeff, dont go to best buy they are WAY over priced. Order them online. I got a 4 gig from frys (downers grove) for $23 after rebate. You are in Waukegan, go to Gurnee mills. I am sure they have TONS of them. Now as for how many songs it holds...humm total guestimate of 250 or so.

On a side note I JUST (10 minutes ago) washed one of my thumb drives (1gig) and that son of a B!tch is still working. Utterly amazed.

No they are not mrgoochio. If you dont have the Ipod (6fl) option you will only have an Aux input (basically a headphone jack). You will not have a USB port

What could I possibly do with an AUX input?

Sorry for being slow on the uptake here guys, but am I to understand that with the iPod/USB option all I need to do is load my MP3 files on a memory stick and plug it into the USB adapter ? Is it that easy or am I missing something?

If you already have a generic version of an MP3 player (non IPOD) you can just use the aux input to connect it to the car, but I think you need to turn it on and off through the player itself and not the radio controls.

dude just get one of the 2 in the links above... that will fit pretty much most of your whole collection... FYI most full songs are about 5MB 1000MB=1GB
So approx 200 songs per GB

Nope, it's that easy.

That's a smoking deal on the 12G stick, and I'll second what you guys are saying about Best Buy being overpriced. That same stick is over $100 there.

or you can plug your I-pod into the car directly... But with the price of cheap thumb drives it could be easier to get a memory stick just to keep in the car... There are also some quality advantages to using a memory stick, the signal stay digital until it get to the head unit, where as the i-pod is analog from the time it leaves the ipod

Awesome. I wasn't going to get the iPod/USB $400 option, but my son said "GET IT". Now I can take ALL my CD's and install into my computor and put them on several 1G sticks:w00t: I am going to get several 1G sticks so I can label them with diff types/groups of music. SO SWEET To think I was going to pass up this AWESOME option. Thank GOD I have to wait quite a while b4 ordering my dream 135i.

It would probably just be easier to buy 1 larger stick and then tell your son that part of the deal w/ getting the Ipod option is he is required to make playlists for you. Once the initial playlists are setup it would be a much simpler and cleaner solution.

It would also be much cheaper to buy a single 8 or 16-gig memory stick than 8 or 16 1-gig sticks.

Jeff,

One 16 or 32gb stick with CDs ripped to MP3s at either 256vbr or 320 and you are golden... With the memory stick the folder appear just as they do on your hard drive (they are not organized by MP3 tag), so you can have one folder for classical, rock, pop, techno or any other kind of music... then further categorize rock -> grunge -> Pearl Jam -> 10 -> alive.... or Blues-> modern Blues -> Amy Winehouse -> Back to Black -> Rehab...

for me folders are so much easier to mange than MP3 tags... Folders make big memory sticks easy to fill and find your music...

ecost reseller ratings are terrible and I wouldnt get no name brand 16 gb usb drive
I stick with Corsair Voyagers, OCZ and Sandisk Titanium.. They are faster, more reliable and companies stand behind their products..
