Argh, water spots

I must have hardest water in the country. Left the window wet in the sun for 3-4 mins and now I have tons of water marks, and it's impossible to get off. I am investing in a water softener before the next wash. Hopefully, I can claybar the deposits off next wash. This is odd since I washed my civic right before and it doesn't have nearly as much spots. I wonder if the bmw windows are calcium magnets.

I have hardwater in AZ... I just make sure I wash when the car is cool, and out of the sun.

If the clay bar does not work try Soft Scrub without bleach or Spot-X Glass Stripping Polish. As always test a small section first.

Shade is the easiest way to prevent spotting. Letting tap water dry on the car will almost always make spots. You could wash with distilled water too. It's cheap.

I cancelled my order and got the pro series of mr. clean. I talked to the cs rep on the phone, turns out the costco unit is the same unit.

you can get the spots off by spraying a vinegar/water solution on the window and then scrub with a 3M type pad like you use for doing the dishes.

If you're willing to go that far, try the crspotless system instead. It is more expensive, but has been proven to work.

That CR Spotless system sounds interesting...has anyone used it? Does it work (i.e. no need to chamois/dry car after washing)?

Yes, it works. Plenty have used it with lots of success. If youre interested, I know where you can get a better deal.

For those that think a DIY setup can be more efficient, cheaper, etc., it has also been tried. Results were that it's not really worth it. For the price versus work done to make a DIY setup, the CRSPOTLESS system works well. I would know, I am in the same market as you guys. I'll likely pick one up as I've been trying to do my homework and it seems like a pretty reasonable price for the performance.

Chemical Guys sells a water spot remover that is a gel like constancy. You rub it on and let it sit it will eat away the calcium etc. then just rinse it off. very good product. You need to be careful will water spots because if they are not taken off properly the result would be to take off a lot of clear coat to fix the mistake. It works on glass too.

www.chemicalguys.com they dont have it on their site. Call and ask for Paul tell him Jonathan sent you. I think it is about $18 or so

if you dont want to call you can get it here http://www.detailedimage.com/Chemica...-Remover-P194/

Be careful with the scrub pad, some pads will scratch the glass, I know this from personal experience.......
